Blue smoke is usually oil. Some oil may be getting into the combustion chamber when the car sits. When you start it, the oil burns away. When its running either there isn't enough to notice, or it just doesn't have the chance to leak into the cylinder.

My '90 Dodge Daytona has bad valve seals, so I get this on every startup, but after a few minutes of driving it goes away (mostly).

Did it smoke before you changed the oil? What brand / weight oil were you running before the oil change? And, how many miles on the old oil?

Stupid question maybe, but did you overfill it, (over the max mark)?

I assume the blue smoke is out of your exhaust pipes.
However, if it's from around the engine compartment or under the car, you, or the service person might have spilled oil when re-filling or left greasy/oily hand prints on the exhaust pipes. That could explain the "smell of heat".

Could be. But would that make blue smoke? Probably not

Where exactly is this blue smoke coming from, and how long does it last, Mathieu?

Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant. I apologize. :beer

Did you have anything done to the car besides the oil change, and did you do the oil change yourself, or have someone else do it? Maybe they did something else to the car?

no itsok my english is not very good :) I change my oil by miself . The smoke get out from the exhaust pipe ( driver side) and I have a exhaust manifold leak from this side to. I notice the smoke about 3 week after I tune up my carb ? The smoke come out just when I start they engine. so I check they spark plug on the side of the leak and it was all the 4 spark plug white, but the plug look like new. I decide to check they other side all the 4 other spark plug and the same thing all 4 was white ( on this side they dot have smoke for the pipe) I check my oil for milk no milk BUT I can see that in the pass before the engine was rebuilt in 1999 they have milk because on the stick it have booble :Do No: but not in my oil I dont know if you understand ?

If someone followed you in your car while driving, would they see blue smoke coming out of your tailpipe?

When they were new, owners of 1970 455s complained about a puff of blue smoke on startup. It was normal for the 455. What happened was that the valve stems don't have scrapers, so oil dripped off the valves into the combustion chambers overnight, and the oil was burned on start up the next day

On the 350 for that year and later, I am not as familiar but it stands to reason you may have a small valve problem, or, the classic scenario for blue smoke out of the tailpipe- worn piston rings

Since the engine was rebuilt not long ago, i wonder who did it, and how many miles have been put on it since then, and what exactly was done to the engine

but its smoke every time I start my engine( if I start every 5 minute its smoke its smoke for 2 sec a big fume and its stop ) can it be the timing and the carb ?

    thanks

It could be your mechanical timing, but it shouldn't be just when you start it

If the carb is giving you trouble, I wouldn't expect to see blue smoke. Blue smoke is oil. if the carb is poorly tuned, you might see white smoke, but not blue

You have the 455, correct? My first guess is valve seals, guides, something along that line. I suppose it could also be a head gasket

    Thats what im thinking also..

Probably a dumb question, but when they rebuilt the motor , did they rebuild just the block, or the heads along with it?

sounds like a valve seal(s) may have broken up & now lets oil drain down into one (or more cylinders). the other scenerio is a broken piston ring which would normally blow blue well beyond startup.
