I'm helping my daughter get rid of the SBC her ex left behind in her garage. I measured the bores with a scale at approx 4in, so it appears that it is a 350. It's in pieces, it appears that most of the components are there. Block, cylinder heads w/rockers and valves, pistons (they are up above my head on a shelf in a plastic crate. I assume the rods are with the pistons), oil pump, cast iron (quadrajet) manifold, timing chain, new rod bearings, new gaskets, pulleys are the major components that I see. However, I do not see the valve covers, distributor, or oil pan. They may be there, their just buried in all the crap he left behind. The components have been stored inside her damp garage for the last four years or so, so the machined surfaces have developed rust. $125 OBO. Lansing, Michigan. Pick up only. Sorry if I am a little slow to respond, I'm working two jobs at the moment. I'll get back with you as soon as I can. Thanks.
Yeah, her garage. She got it in the divorce settlement. They did not have much equity in the house at the time, so he agreed that my daughter would get the house and he would get the year's income tax refund. His idea. You should see the crap in her garage. Sitting on a shelf, approx four feet above the ground spanning the width of the car and a half garage, is a stack about 3 foot high of 4x8 drywall, the cast iron cylinder heads, the cast iron manifold, the oil pump, timing chain, pistions and rods, several pre-hung interior doors, a fiberglass shower enclosure, new brake drums, a big stack of 2x4s, and that is what you can see with you shoes on the ground. I hate to think what is up there that you cannot see. o No: And all of this sitting on a shelf, four feet off of the ground. :eek2: The sad part of it is, it's a detached garage and my daughter had no reason to go in there, so she had no idea what he had back in there. He never told her that he was buying all of that stuff or what it was for. Some relationship.
If you were closer I would pick up that stuff. I got a 283 SBC in a boat that I will probably break one day.ou:
Boy if you were close I would see if we could come to terms on the building material. I could pretty much use everything that you named. Have you listed the engine on craigslist? Should be pretty easy to get rid of a small block chevy. Almost as many small block chevy guys on this earth as there are cockroaches.
No, I have not checked out Craigslist. I think I've been to the site once. I thought I may find someone that was looking for SBC parts for their tow vehicle, daily driver or whatever. I need to get this stuff out of my daughter's garage.
