    OK, here goes

skyhawk fly wheel is a 9.5 clutch assm, with a 12.83 diameter starter is what competition clutch told me, to teeth or outer clutch area? not known.

350 1970 flywheel is a diameter outer teeth 13.375 dia. has a 12 5/8 bolt circle for flywheel. COMP also said after market with fin finger style clutch pack will fit as a 10.5 size on buick fly wheel inside bell of 9.5 skyhawk pending if starter will work.

SO help. if I use a 350fly on a 10.5 clutch, (cable car) , and fits into bell of car, will I get a buick starter 350 or 3.8 into its mount to work? NEED skyhawk flywheel knowledge help. PLEASE.

have seen swaps of 350 into skyhawk but all have been on internet as an Automatic torque converter hookup.

Can anyone street or strip help on keeping my saginaw, for originality, yet be a 350 buick ??????

pic of car as stands now. have alum wheels too.

I did the same swap into a 77 Skyhawk back in 83. If I remember right I used the 350 Buick bell housing flywheel and clutch. I remember having a hard time finding a flywheel. I kept the 4 speed that the car came with. It was a fairly easy swap
if I remember I had to modify the water pump shaft a little. I believe I used the V6 motor mounts also. There isn't a lot of room for exhaust under those cars.
I had both pipes running down one side. It made for a sweet ride.
    Good Luck with your project.

Now that i think about it I'm sure I used the V6 bell housing

I have a Buick 350 flywheel, and stock clutch along with the finger. PM me if you are interested.

I am not sure about all the details of the swap though.

I have a buick 70 flywheel for 350, what was done on starter. ?

aware from a roadhawk guy saw his pics on exhaust tightness, even had to shave the manifold to clear steering shaft. Started confused, use a 3.8 or 350 in old bell with 350 flywheel?

will the 3 clip style clutchpack work, or do I really need to buy a newer modern style "finger" clutch pack. ?? 12.625 bolt pattern.

motor is a 77 lesabre redone, hoping has hole in crank for pilot bearing.

keep passing info best news so far thanks craig

told by shops 79-80 has its own flywheel different than older issues, something about stacking?, clutch shop said modern clutch would clear better.

Older 231 (3.8) engines were 'odd fire' crankshaft; newer engines were 'even fire' I think the year of change was 1978. Anyway, the Flywheel for the 3.8 is balanced for its respective engine... Lokk at the machining and or weight on the ENGINE side of the flywheel.
On a positve side, the Buick V-6 motor mounts will bolt directly to the Buick 350, and your accesories (water pump, alternator, power steering, associated brackets) SHOULD tranfer directly over. Just be careful; Some of the 3.8 bolts MAY be metric, not SAE.
Should be an interesting and FUN swap. I had a Chevy 350 in a Monza originally with 151 4 banger.

yes all late buick motors 430 455 350 3.8 had same fronts to mount ac alter , etc on motor, knew that, dealing with the starter now, have modified many buicks in 20 years, regal swaps, electras, lesabre, Apollo ( 455 tight fit ), but all of those where torque converter setup swap , easy, have never done a manual

what starter is used if you use a 350 buick flywheel, in skyhawk bell with new 10.5 clutch. is the starter from 350 used on new wheel or original 3.8 , maybe GM used same on both? or other gm starter or change gear on starter?

    skyhawk , info here,

Dont want to take off it is a Buick, keep in original clamps, colors, etc to build as Buick should have done like Chev with a v8 option.

clutch 10.5 on 1970 flywheel 350 will go, then just leaves me with info starter. thx

I used the 350 starter that came with the engine. The engine was out of a 70 Skylark. As I said before it is an easy swap.

starters don't matter. they are all interchangeable. b/hsng bolt patterns are all the same except the 215. 350 engine uses 350 f/whl, v6 uses v6 f/whl. throttle cable should work. accessories depends on which w/p you have, i.e length. the only thing i don't know is the clutch cable. i wouldn't use a hi-po pressure plate on the 30yr old cable. exhaust is the other issue. ??
