SOLD! Should have a 64 Skylark in my driveway Tuesday, and a 71 the Tuesday after that (unless the lead on a 65 that I got today pans out, then it's going to be a 64 and a 65!)

I've got my GS340 up for sale. She runs good, has good, but not restored quality interior. It's the silver version and as far as I know the only non stock items to it are reproduction chrome rings and centers on the wheels, and a Pertronix ignitor 2 ignition with a flame thrower 2 coil. I have an extra ignition with points in it that I need to swap in and set the dwell on for a backup to the Pertronix. It has the stock radio, but it isn't working. I think it's the speaker because when you hook the power up it makes a circuit to ground. Not sure on that one yet.
Like I said she runs good, rides like a Buick, drives like a dream.
I will post some pictures later.
If you want to have third party evaluation, search for the Puyallup Buick show threads and PM some of the guys there. I say PM them so that no one feels odd about speaking their mind with anything they have to say. I don't want anyone to feel like they are on the spot in a public forum.
I have got rust behind the rear window like most of these cars. Lucky this is one of the few panels that you can purchase for a 67 Buick. It's a little over $100 through the various vendors.
I am trying to pick up a 65 that needs a bit to make her show ready, so if that car sells I will be pulling this off the market. I'm asking $7500, which is the price of the 65. I think I can get the other car a little cheaper, so if anyone makes an offer I will simply see if that would talk the other guy out of his 65. If it works for the 65, I will take it for my car.

It is the car next to my name at the top of this post.

I cant believe your selling it, but maybe your little girl will like the 65 better? :Do No:

    good luck with both sales.

I'm kinda torn about it. I love my car, and my little girl does love the car too. I just love the 65.
To tell you the truth, I won't be disappointed if it doesn't sell. Eventually I will buy a 65 Skylark for about half the money and make it into a pavement ripping monster!
The wife keeps saying to do whatever I want, but it's in that tone that a wife has that says "I don't like it".
We'll see what happens. I think both my car and the 65 Gran Sport that I want are worth the money, but it may be about the top dollar range for the cars in their condition with the way the market is right now.
Maybe the 63 that I'm trying to pick up will take care of my urges for something to modify and I'll leave well enough alone for now.

Sorry, not interested in any trades unless it's a 65 or a 56 Buick.
I love this car and the only reason that I've got it up for sale is because I've found a 65 that I want more. As much as I love my car, I can't afford to buy the 65 without selling this, so a hard choice has to be made.
If the 65 sells before I sell this, I will be pulling this car from the market.

    Thanks for the offer.

It was rougher than I had expected. Body was pretty good over all other than needing a new trunk pan.
Interior was as rough and ratty as you could ever hope to see. I drove all the way up there and the guy was out running it. His wife said he was getting gas, but I suspect he was getting it warmed up enough to run better, and for the test drive the guy took me for a quick run with him driving and sort of got on it for about a half a second.
Got to wonder when you drive a couple hours to see a car and they don't want you to drive it.
He seemed like a pretty good guy, and has a 71 GS convertible project also, but I didn't have a good gut feeling about the car and I knew I would not have it ready for fun cruising for the family any time soon, maybe not even next summer, especially since I would have spent all my money.

In the mean time a guy said he wanted my car and I found a nice 64 that was just begging for a lot of cubic inches, and leaves me with a budget to get it done. In fact it leave me with enough that I was going to buy a pretty nice 71 to drive when I worked on it until I decided to focus on the one car since I can drive it with very little work.
It's going to be what a GS should have been if they had built one in 64 and GM didn't put the 400 cubic inch restriction on!

Other than the engine upgrade I will end up spending some money getting the interior back to new, but in addition to the interior being in pretty decent driver condition with new aftermarket buckets, I get the original buckets to restore. Glass, grill, bumpers, emblems, halo chrome are all good, and you would be hard pressed to find better tail light chrome. Some of the chrome on the sides needs some dings popped out. Has decent aluminum mag wheels. Paint is fairly new and is suppose to be a gloss black, but looks a little flat. It will look pretty good until I get mechanical done and re paint it something flashy.

I wanted a Gran Sport, but I think this is going to be more fun in some ways. With my 67 GS I wouldn't alter it from stock, not even the color because it was rare and right, but with a 64 Skylark I'm free to build a hot rod however I want it and not feel bad about it.

Congrets on your sale. I always sad when you say goodbye to a car even if it is because you get a new one. Sounds like you are going to have a interesting project with a evil engine in it:Brow: I think we all look forward to hear what is going to happen.

You are right about it being sad. I do love the 67 but the budget says that if I want a 64 or 65 it has to go.

I will post progress on things. Probably be one of the threads that lasts a long time with sporadic posts. I am doing the leg work on what I can find that I will need right now, and figuring out who can help with fabrication where I need it. I know guys who can build very nice cars starting with nothing, so I have a few guys that I know can steer me in the right direction where I need it. Lucky I have some cash left over from the sale of the 67 to get some of the big purchases (like a decent motor and transmission) at the start of the project.
I am looking forward to having exactly what I want. Even at a Buick show I will be odd man out, but that's fine with me!

    David,

Congrats on your sale and purchase. I have access to many parts for the '64 & 65 Skylarks. Keep me in mind if you need something or have any questions. I can also hook you up with a buddy of mine who has a TON of 64 & 65 parts. If you PM me, I'll give you my and his email adresses.

I too am always sad to see a loved car leave the driveway for the last time. I get over it quickly by getting my hands dirty with the replacement.

Wish I had found this add before you sold it. I bought one of these cars, exactly like yours, new in the spring of 67. I have the 67 race car but now my wife and I have decided to get her a nice 67 driver. Hope all works out for you.
