    Thought that I would share this picture of my '73 GS car's original spare. Bias belted BFGoodrich on a 14" chrome wheel.

    This is one crappy picture, but I don't have anything else at the moment. This is the original Bridgestone Silvertown J-78 Whitewall on the plain steel rim.

    I have an original, not replacement, G-60-15 Polyglass GT spare tire that was taken off a 70 GSX. It still has the letter codes stenciled on the tread along with the mold marks and rubber nubbies. I don't think it was ever on the ground. I will borrow a digital camera and post a picture later.

    Original Bridgestone Silvertown on rallye rim. Note that the spokes are not painted black on the rim. The outside of the rim is correctly painted black because this style of rim uses a trim ring.

    These are cool!

    Thanks for sharing guys,
    That one with the black painted wheel is neat Mike. I am really anxious to see more now!:TU: Jeff, don't you just love writing on things from the factory like the "CS" on your tire and always wonder who wrote it and how little it meant to them then.

    Yea Brian, all those little extras are cool.

    Little did that guy know that people would be talking about his scribbles 33 years later.

    What can the "CS" on Jeff's tire stand for?

    CS= Cheese Sandwich
    CS= Chevy Sucks
    CS= Crappy spare :eek2:
    CS= Charlie Sheen

    Good one Dan.

    I was trying to come up with one, but my thinking cap just wouldn't fit.

    I seem to have lost my thinking cap some time ago.... but my brain cells seem to work OK on silly and otherwise useless tasks...............

    BTW I DO NOT have a pic, but MY first spare was a flat snow tire on a filthy Ralley wheel..... :Do No:

    Buick Trainee,
    If you have the time I would like to know what DOT code is on the tire. It will be a series of numbers/letters that are heat stamped into the tire near the rim.

    Jeff,
    If you are reading this I would like the code off your tire also.
    Thanks.

    I will try to borrow a digital camera and take a picture of the original 70 GSX spare I have. I hope the lettering shows up on the picture.

    Duane -

    I also have the original spare (no digital camera yet - sorry) and I'll try to get the codes off it for you this weekend. As you may recall, the F4 option was switched to F7 at the dealership prior to sale.

    I have to do the 'big clean' before the long winter nap :ball:

    I was actually in the garage tonight, and checked out the tire for you. My spare rim (11D car) -
    PHP:
    M 4     10     31     7.0
     9
    The polyglas G60-15 tire -
    DOT - MBUF DLA242

    For the sake of argument, I looked at the front driver side tire, which I know is a reproduction tire (WM rim) -
    DOT - CYUF B4W1288

    Duane, here is what I found.
    It's kind of shaped like a VIN tag?

    APNBJCDL

    There is also a sticker with "80" on it.

    Jeff,
    That's the code for an original 70-71 Tire. I think Marco's is a replacement or 72 tire, I will check the codes later.
