The 300 is NOT a nailhead. It has the same basic block as the 215, 340, and 350. They just made it so it looks like it has vertical valve covers like a nailhead. Dan
Not to stir the pot... but... how about adding the aluminum 215 to the description as well. It WAS the first Buick small block and it is the ONLY Buick V8 still in production. Greg
Yes, there are certainly more 300's around than 340's. Don't see many posts about 215's, but they are also part of the small block family.
The easiest way to know 100% is that the 215/300/340/350 and 231 v6's all have the distributor up front and the same basic timing cover. All the nailheads had the distributor in the rear of the block. Dan
