Since everything else is hard to find on a 69 GS, I have a question when it comes to the Muncie shift rods for my GS. Is there any reason, other than factory correctness, that I cannot use rods from another A-body?

I cant see any reason that it would make any difference. As long as the rods and arms are for a Muncie, they should work in any car with a Muncie. If you look at new install kits, they arent car specific. The only thing you have to look at is if you have the stud style shift fork ends or the bolt style. The arms are different for each.

OK. That's what I kind of figured, but was not completely sure.

Hurst after market shifter install kits ARE car specific,,, B-body install kit is different than A-body kit, and F-body kit is different, and 1st and 2nd gen. F-body are different also...

Hurst will use a shifter mount that attaches to the tail housing and the shifter body mounts to that, to place the shifter in the correct location...

Then the rods are configured to fit between the shifter body and the arms mounted on the shift shafts...

I just had a customer want to put a 2.64W ST-10 into a 1969 442, but there isn't a shifter mount for this application, so I drew up the mount that puts a ST-10 or late Muncie(large out-put) into a 1966-69 Buick or Olds A-body... Then I configured the rods and arms to fit...

The OEM shifter came thru the tunnel in the correct location, and my customer loves the ST-10...

    Hope this helps... Crash
