bah, you're just jealous. I like my tractor. Actually part of the reason I bought this snowblower attachment for it was to reduce the damage to the yard from the snow blade that's on it now, but the real reason is I think I can run it with a free hand for the beer. Blade takes at least two hands( one on the forward/reverse speed control, one on the hydraulic lift, one on the steering, and one on the right left angle control. Beer kinda gets left out on that one. Now, go away. Still catching up on lost sleep from the furnace episode. Time for another nap. :sleep:
Might want to get a pump to pump out the basement when it floods. Just to stay ahead of the game. Then you will only have to get up when the gas runs out in the pump. Oh..better figure in the price of gas while your at it. Hell if it ain't one thing it's another....
You forget, this is hillbilly country. No need to buy a pump. Dave will use the lawn tractor to pull and push one of those junk cars he has scattered over the back 40, right through the sliding glass doors for his walk-out. Once parked in his basement, he will duct tape a hose to the inlet of the junker's water pump and let it dangle in the ankle-deep muck that once was his basement. He'll then duct tape another hose to the thermostat housing and run it to the top of the hill. Start the junker, let it pump the muck to the top of the hill, then watch it flow back down into the basement. Did I forget any steps? Oh, yeah! The beer! ou:
We came across something similar years back on a golf course near Philadelphia. I had to be the best hillbilly ski tow I've seen. It was an old Duster that had been cut in half and ran a big sprocket that operated a ski lift up a good sized hill there. My Dad said when they first put it there it was pretty much a complete car that they chopped up only to put the sprockets and clear the mechanism. Each year more of it disappeared until when I saw it (about 1979), you knew it was a car at one time, but not sure what. Most of you are too young to remember the TV program "Route 66", but they hooked up a belt drive to the rear axle of their midyear Vette roadster to operate a pump for a farmer on one episode. That's close, too. Actually what I do have, is a good sized generator in the new garage that can be plugged into the wall and backfeed into the main house if necessary. Just have to isolate the house from the world, and only use the circuits you need. (Well pump, fridge, HDTV). Also have a submersible 1/2 horse pump that can be dropped into the low spot just outside the door and a 100 foot hose to get it away from the house. That low spot is a 6 x 15 foot area dug out and backfilled with egg rock with a french drain buried under it. The water has to get about 6 inches deep before it comes over the threshold of the sliding door. Haven't had to use it yet, but was one of the first things I bought when I moved here 4 years ago and heard about the problem from neighbors. I did plow out that complete area yesterday so there's just a small amount of snow on the surface to melt.
