Seattle area exhaust shops, any thoughts?

Looking for a reputable shop to do a mandrel bent system with mufflers and x-pipe, do any of the Seattle locals have a recommendation?

    Thanks,

Yes, Stan's recently did the dual exhaust on my '71 Buick Centurion, and did a fantastic job.

    Brian,

    How are they for cost?

Did you go with an X-pipe system, H-pipe, or just two straight pipes?

Although it may be a while, eventually I'll want to X my 3" system (torque tech). I'd like it to be nice and clean, along with having the center part unboltable for easier removal of drivetrain pieces.

    I'm expecting it's a get-what-you-pay-for deal, and you're getting a good system.

Cost was about $700 for an aluminized H-Pipe system with a muffler and resonator on each side and stainless steel tips. We basically replicated the appearance of a stock system.

I've also had success on my '59 Buick with dual exhausts from Airport Welding and Muffler in Snohomish. Price was quite comparable to Stan's.

Thanks for the feedback on Stan's. I'll definitely give them a call.
I am also looking into picking up a Magnaflow system (stainless steel, x-pipe, mufflers) on the web and having a local shop (Midas?) install it.

Ints, I'm hoping we'll get to see your GS at the Puyallup Buick Open in June and the Buick Nationals in Bellevue in July. Let us know if you need more information about either event. You don't want to miss them.

I have been wanting to get to the Puyallup show the past couple of years, but it has been on a weekend that is booked every year with something else.
I think that this year the Puyallup show is a weekend earlier, so I will try to get there.
The Nationals in Bellevue are going to be hard not to miss!
There are some pics of my GS in the pre '68 member's rides thread, at the bottom of page 16.

    cheers!

    Your car looks terrific, Ints!

Please let us know if you need registration information for either event. You'll want to register ahead of time.

I have used these guys to do exhaust work on two of my GS's, and have been very happy with them. Especially if you are just looking to have your system installed. I didn't post earlier as I don't think they have a mandrel bending machine, and that is what you were looking for.

They still show up when Googled. Currently no beer in my fridge, so you may as well hit the Safeway that's on the way. It's only about an 8-block walk.

Mathewsons Automotive in Renton has a person by the name of Verle who does really nice work. Their phone# (425)226-2965 They are on Rainier ave across from the Renton airport.

  17. into_I, I thought I recognized that car!
I sold you a couple of rally wheels last year. :)

I also belong to TeamChevelle due to the SBC in my Buick. (standing by for flames... I bought it that way, but I did build it since LOL) ...

Anyway.. we are going to get a few guys together and hit some area cruises throughout the summer if you get bored on a Friday or Saturday.
We are hoping to get together this Saturday evening if the weather is decent.
    Let me know!
    Greg

PS: to everyone else... sorry for butting into the exhaust thread, I just got excited to see a car I knew from before I found the site.

Let's see.. to make it legit.. Don't bother with Bucky's in Lynnwood mediocre work at twice the price quoted. Also Dan Fast in Lynnwood does decent work but last I checked could not mandrel bend pipe.

First off, thanks to everyone for the feedback, know where the good shops are is invaluable!
I am going to order the magnaflow 2.5 inch system, I think it's a great deal for 400-475 shipped you get a mandrel bent stainless steel system with x-pipe, mufflers, and a choice of tailpipe configurations. A Jan. 2005 Hot Rodding has a good write up of the system, a pdf of the article is available on the magnaflow web site.
Greg, nice to see you here on v8b. I took a look at your '66, it's come a long way! All it needs is it's heart back! The SBC looks good, but nice dual-quad 425 nailhead would look just right in that engine compartment! Right now I am not able to cruise as the weekends are a bad time for me. Let me know your usual hangouts, and if I can, I will try to stop by sometime.

    Cheers,

  19. You will love the Magnaflows! I'm running headers into a 2 1/2" system with no H or X pipe but I am running a set of Magnaflows on my car.
I think it sounds just right. Not obnoxious but authoritive.
My 8yr old son reminds me everytime we take it out that HE much preferred the open header run we took to get it to the muffler shop after I installed the headers. LOL I guess there is a future muscle car owner in my backseat! :3gears:
