Hey guys, Came across a `64 Riv with an SCO designation on the Fisher Body tag. Does anyone know what SCO is an acronym for? Unfortunately, the original interior has been thoroughly massaged. ou: :blast: :Smarty: Also, there are two trim numbers which are not typical `64 Riv trim numbers? The trim numbers are SCO-305-179. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks! :beer Tom Mooney
Special Color Order. This was back when GM built cars people wanted. You could order any color in the Ditzler book for any car. :TU: In the late 60's you could tell a sco car by the 2 dashes in the paint code spot.
Tom, SCO= Special Car Order If the SCO is in the trim section of the tag it generally means the SCO was generated due to something interior related. It could be something like the interior color not being an approved color match for the exterior of the car. I don't have trim numbers for this model, so I cannot help you further. I know a dealership that ordered a red, white, & blue chevy each year, they were all SCO cars. Duane
Yes it is a non standard interior. The car is a 64 Riv with a leather interior, no leather for 64. I looked at the codes in my 64 color and trim book and one #179, came back to a Skylark wagon. The body # and build date were also a disconnect on this car. Larry
Duane, BuickBuddy, Notice in the pic Buddy posted there are two trim numbers???? :eek2: WHY????? The early Riv in question also has two trim numbers where one would always, or almost always, find one? Any help from you guys is greatly appreciated! Thanks! Tom Mooney
The TR 188 is Black Buckets and the B80 is Roof Molding drip edge in the RPO book. The car has chrome roof molding but I'm not sure if that's what the B80 stamped on the tag means.
For some reason, the B80 UPC is listed on all the Buick 'A' body cars I've seen built in Freemont CA. I have no idea why they felt compelled to do this...
Another mystery. I'll tell you one thing I know. The car was built the fourth week of June and the sales date on the Protecto-Plate folder is July 3rd in Bountiful, Utah. That is some quick turnaround for an SCO car. :TU:
Dave, The trim tag is 05 D, not 06D. Fifth month is May, not June. Not as quick as you thought!
Still quick.. Try ordering a car today and see when you get it. It's B80. Here's another view .
Dave, not ALL SCO cars were dashes.... :beer BTW- I believe the color is Code 83- Riviera color Deep Gray Mist Irid.. o No:
