In another section we are discussing Suncoupes and SCO cowl tag identification. I am thinking that the SCO number should be able to be looked up to find out what exactly was ordered special on that specific vehicle for the SCO tag.

I know that if the cowl tag is "SCO 972", that was the 972nd car built with a SCO marking. So there should be documentation somewhere that states what was odered on the 972nd car, etc...

I am thinking that Sloan Museum should be able to inform a person of what it is, correct? Is there anywhere else to find this info?

    Thanks, Mike

I wonder if this stuff exists? I tried Sloan for it but they don't have anything other than car detail reports for 1971. My stage 1 convert is a bucket seat car. Anyone know if SCO data exists somewhere?

    Mike,
It would be great to have all the SCO info on a list somewhere, but I don't know if it ever existed.
I think the microfilm that Sloan has was used by accounting to track car costs, so GM knew how much money they were making, and what taxes they had to pay the gov. They probably had different group pricing for SCO paint, interior/exterior color combinations, etc. but did not "reference" specific SCO's. In other words, the microfilm may have a paint SCO but not list the color used, as it did not matter for accounting.

Other options that people would not think of are also SCO's. I have a buildsheet from a 70 GS 350 that came with G60-15 Polys and it was a SCO car.

Steve Caruso and I are trying to get together to reasearch the files on 72 GS cars with SCOas is shows up on the window sticker . My GS Suncoupe is a SCO and I located another GS 35o Suncoupe that is an SCO . . Problem is can someone go to Sloan and sit there looking a films to get info or will they only let you pay them . The process of them searching for SCO codes would rapidly get out of hand . IF Sloan would scan the info into a data base where a person could input the desired search info it would be doable .

    Staged70,

That would be great if you were able to such research. If there is anything I can do to assist, let me know.

Beamer is your Suncoupe a SCO car ? I understand all the Suncoupe GS cars were and of corse any special paint cars I have documentation of a SCO Suncoupe GS 350 that is a Riv color so I guess it is a double SCO ?

No, mine is not a SCO. It is a Skylark - plain jane, with pretty much no options at all. I have never even tried to act like I had a GS. I have advertised from day 1 that I am a clone and will always tell everyone such. The thing that killed me is a person that I knew had a Suncoupe that advertised to be 1 of 5, and it was not. But to each his own... But I know how to tell for sure that it is not a GS Suncoupe... That is why I feel it is am important ability to find the description of the SCO codes on our 72 cars. If for anything to give a true value and rarity for your GS Suncoupe. I wish I could have purchased the one that I knew was a Stage1. I really love my car, as it is so much fun to drive opened up - both the top and the 4 barrells, LOL !!!

Did you buy your car from a guy in southeast VA? If so, that is the car I had the opportunity to buy, but not the ability anymore to do the work it needed.

Yes I ended up with the Va car . It has all documentation including the original window sticker . In another post that got bogged down I said it is not possible for me to do a Kliner type resto at 100k so I bought a rust free rear half that I am going to take to my body man . He is going to seperate the rear quarters from the top and the floors at the front seam and graft the cars together . This is the only way I could ever possibly dream of getting the car done . As for your car we also have a clone GS Suncoupe it belongs to my wife Terry and I really don't think she would ever part with it . Be proud to own a unique car that has a lot of class!

Thanks for letting me know. I am very happy to hear it went to a board member. It sounds like it will get done one way or another.

Honestly, I had considered buying it and using the VIN and documentation for my car. But the wife was calling me a cheat. That bothered me, LOL... But I did not have the time to do it all in the first place. And to top it off, I didn't have the place to keep it at as well.

Keep me posted on your progress. I really love my Suncoupe, its uniqueness is rallied by few others.
