This is a longshot...but since I'm post-op light duty, great time to work on "paper trails"... Trying to round up last bits of info on '71 (we know how hard that is) so Mike can make me window stickers. Luckily, I have POP, but nothing else... Need just 2 more bits of info: 1) Zone - Dealer Code Nothing on POP matches entry in BuickGSX.net database. Anyone have something verifying Schuman's code? 2) Destination Charge Looking for charge from Flint. Mike doesn't have that one (duh!) and would have to "guesstimate." Luckily, got charge from Freemont few years back from member, which I can use in B-plan if necessary...again, anything with Flint to Schuman charge...
John, They're still there, 1-808-592-4500......of course you'll need to ask for the oldest guy there..:Brow:
Actually, they're not. Closed end Nov, 2004. Schuman started first auto dealership in HI in 1904, and are a long-established business family in the islands. From what I can gather, although they retained the name for their parent company, Schuman has divested itself of all auto-related businesses... When I started tracing the car's provenance from the POP, I had 2 interesting parallel paths...Schuman's, a study in itself...and original owner, a published prof at U of HI, with a scholarship in his honor. Fascinating...
79-908 SHUMAN CARRIAGE CO. LTD HONOLULU HI 1234 S BERETANIA ST 96814 I got this from a car for sale in KC a couple years ago. For some reason it did not show up in the PDF. I do need to work on the list. I got some more information from Sloan I have not added. I hope this helps. Mark
I also found a copy of an invoice from 1973 that has a destination charge of $219.00 to 79-908. I am currently looking to see if I copied pictures of the information on the 1970 that was in Kansas City. Mark
Thanks Mark! Looks like 79-908 for sure. Can't understand why doesn't show on my POP "Line 7." I have "J-40008 S71-517 405265" and the "J-40008" also appears on a Schuman ink stamp elsewhere on POP. I "guessed" S71-517 is stock# ..."S" for "stock," "71" for year, and "517" ordinal# (or 17th car in May, since it's an 05B). I know car was a stock order based on build vs delivery date. Also guessing "405265" is factory order# (!?)...which left "J-40008," which I figured may be code, since it appeared twice..."guess" I was wrong... Schuman was also Caddy dealer. Would assume GM codes by make to keep bookkeeping straight...could explain J-40008??? Is that '73 shipping from Flint? If I can't find a '71 Flint-Schuman shipping, maybe I can calculate deflation based on other known charges...
Goal is window sticker. If you knew shipping charge, I wouldn't need this thread to find it..."duh" on me...
I do not know if the car came from Flint. I do not have the whole sheet, just the codes. and the cost of the car happen to be above it. Sorry. Mark
My GSX came from Schuman in Hawaii, I still need to do some investgation work. I,ll take Picture of my POP.
Great! Very interested in "bottom" POP line..."Line 7" in Buick manual(s). Might help decode 2 pieces of info there when compared to my POP and your invoice. Also like to know "Destination Charge" line on your invoice, if there is one...your car is different from most, ordered at one dealership (CA) and delivered at another (HI)...
