Hi all, I am an auto shop teacher at a small private school/vo-tech in OKlahoma. We are embarking on the adventure of restoring a 1970 Buick Skylark. We hope to put the car in GSX trim and upgrades. My dad owned a 70 GS 350 and I loved racing it: sometimes he knew, sometimes he didn't (He actually let me bracket race the car on Wednesday nights!). We are excited about the project, as the kids get a little tired of replacing starters and transmissions in the all too common 1986-93 whatevers. If anyone has advice or parts they would let go of cheap let me know. We need GS grille,Console, shifter, rear bumper, and taillights. We might have a line on a GS hood, but if it falls through we will need that as well. Also considering a 455 engine if we could get one. Thanks bunches :Smarty: , Fred Volz Oklahoma Academy Harrah, OKlahoma 454-0709
Thanks, I just got an original GSX hood on eBay last night. It has a crunch in the front corner, but it does not look buckled. Hey, how can you go wrong for $76? Now we just need to figure out how to get it here. :TU:
where is the hood now? im close to chicago and passing through Oklahoma next weekend on my way to Elpaso to pick up Buick parts! im empty on the way down. if its in this area i could bring it.
Uncle Lar, The hood is in Elkton, Minnesota. I think that might be out of your way. If it's not too far I can reimburse your fuel and chip in a few bucks for your time. Or I could even give you our stock 71 or 72 hood (very straight, almost ready to shoot) in exchange. Let me know. Thanks and God bless, Fred
We are in beautiful Harrah, Oklahoma. That is about 20 miles East of Oklahoma City. We are about 150 Miles from Fort Smith, and about 5 1/2 hours from Little Rock.
455 this 455 you want, can it already be put together or do you and the guys want to build it? i am asking because i know a guy that bought a 455 from me that i did a complete build on, it has a rebuilt Q-jet carb, chrome factory valve covers, chrome open element air cleaner, heads were in great shape, replace the valve stem seals, reground the valves, rebuilt starter, original b4b intake, 10 over pistons, new bearings, new cam bearings, slightly used poston cam with matching lifters, new double roller timing chain and gears, put the one piece crank seal in the timing cover, put the rubber seal in for the rear main, did the oil passage trick on the back of the block for the cam for better oilling, stock exhaust maifolds painted with high heat paint. and a rebuilt 400 trans. he never did use it and it is still sitting on the engine stand. i think i can get it back for what he paid me. 2000.00 for the motor and the trans. let me know thanks jerry :3gears:
