I take it then this motor runs on race gas and not premium unleaded or is it a mix of half and half.

    Race gas only, unfortunately.
It's purpose built, and this is the one drawback of my build.
I'm sure there are more ways to skin a cat, different builds with less compression, more porting, etc., that will go just as quick on pump gas.

I run at 10.6 comp and I run 5 gal of race gas 110 and run 15 gal of BP 93 which is supposed to be Amoco gas. This is recommended for new Mustangs. I run 32* timing total. Do you run more timing than this? 32 is as far as I can go.

^^^This is the previously mentioned limits on cylinder pressure or max torque at really low rpm.
Focusing the build around these limitations requires top level expertise and some $$.
There's probably quite a few dyno sheets and simulations to follow here to come up with a build recipe.

I know on my 215 build cylinder pressures were high enough that I was seeing some erosion of the top ring land on one of the pistons. But they were cast. By the time the engine had around 30-40K miles on it there was about 5/8" of top land on the number 3 piston by the exhaust port that was gone.

33* total in by 2500, 14 initial if memory serves me.
Would love to throw a pair of aluminum heads on this to see what it would do with less weight up front, that and an aluminum intake to replace the 57 pound iron hog.

Tom which pistons are you using and are they close to zero deck? The alum heads have a closed chamber design so "quench" comes into play.

Forged custom made Diamond flat tops, -.012 in the hole.

No valve reliefs either, and it is uncomfortably c-l-o-s-e!

    Tom Miller,
Can you elaborate on the cam is it stock or near stock. Can you have more duration or a wider lobe center to keep the vacuum high enough for tech. Don't know how much info you can give given the class your in but I am very interested in how this drag race class is done.

    Thanks for the info,
    Guy

It's what I like to call a factory cam......it was made in a factory anyway. Sent you a Pm

Nice job with just using a stock style cam just think if you gave it a 75 shot of nitrous. My motor seems to really like nitrous and I am just using a 75 shot right now. I knock off well over a second with the small shot. I put the timing at 28 just to make sure and let it rip.

Something to have fun with on the street when you are not at the track for the muscle car event. or during lol
