I'm aware of the other thread, I didn't want to take anything from that thread. I am going to make a simple bracket, using oem mount, all bolt on, my concern is rear upper mount , I have an extra stamped upper bracket, so may mod it , I made brackets for my turbo buick ,/ sanden. and it still working, fine. not a fan of A6 comp, or R4 either. half the weight, and half the size!
Just now seeing this. Does this mount the Sanden 508 compressor using factory brackets? I'd be interesting in learning more. My car is a non-AC 1970 and I'd like to get AC but the brackets have always been the part I want to have solved. I have a set of factory AC brackets to use.
yes, uses the factory a/c lower mount, but I made an adaptor, to place it in the proper location, ( front to back) I use a turn buckle to adj it, for now, will make a proper looking adj later. (when it warms up!LOL)
not difficult, did not plan on making and selling any, but, if I ever catch up on stuff..................
I can't really tell what you did. Would you care to show the parts you made or make measurements? Is it just a matter of making a tubular spacer and using a turnbuckle to adjust it?
well its 26 degrees here (IN AZ?)( and IF you can believe it, we are scheduled for SNOW 6 TO 10 in,) and I'm fighting the flu, so will tell you , without any pics, made a bracket to bolt to exisiting a/c lower mount, that bolts to both front and back tabs on sanden comp mount. bracket is nothing more than 1in flat, bent at both ends to mount to oem bracket, then welded two tabs to mount sanden. cut a piece of 3/8 tubing to go between sand ears/ mounts, so not to deflect or warp sanden, I used the orig buick upper bracket, but it binds when trying to adj,, so installed a turnbuckle under it, ( to hide it) thats as far as I'v gotten, I have a a/c hose crimper, so hoses will be custom, or to my liking, if I live thru this flu, (3rd time in 2 months?) and it warms up, I'll try to get pics I did get a flu shot, so did the wife, she hasn't been sick at all, me, i'm a flu magnet.
Knucklebusted, I have the thread on the big chill that cruzin57 is referring to. I have built a combo alternator/508 compressor mount to solve the 508 mounting problem. My bracket will replaces the original alternator mount with a combination mount similar to the way the factory compressor was mounted.
