I am wanting to convert my 1970 post from an automatic to a 3 on the column. I have been having trouble locating a muncie trans, but I see a Saginaw 3 speed on ebay. Some have said the Saginaw was mostly for The V6's. Would there be a way this could work? Engine is a stock 350-4 (so @280 HP). I just want to make sure it will handle it. Any opinions?

    Thanks,
    Rich

the saginaw 4 spd trannies were for with 2 bbl v8 engines cars - 250 hp or less. the 3 spd saginaw was basically for the 6 cyl cars and the small v8 engines (283, 307, 350 (2-bbl)), by default.
the 3 spd will work in your car, just do not beat the crap out of it.
