Wanted to gasket match my S Divider intake and discovered that on one side the manifold ports overlapped the gasket, in other words the ports were up to 3/16 inch lower than the gasket holes on one side. Theres plenty of material to cut on the top side obviously but what can I use to fill in where the manifold is low? My thought is JB Weld but will it stand the gas and heat? Don't tell me to weld it cause I don't want to spend that much on it. Dave Berry :af:
semes to me maybe that manifold has been modified for heads that have been extensivly ported? if it has not been modified there should be know way the the gasket would not line up, i think welding would be your only option, would not want the JB weld to break off some day and do some damage.
Thanks for the reply but I bought this manifold new and the ports are just low, there's 3/8 0f an inch of material below the top of the gasket opening. May have to take this down with my aluminum cans. Dave Berry
hello I read a post on here somewhere where a guy got a S-divider new and there was a problem with it. He contacted Poston and they took back the blem and sent a good one, no charge. Contact them and see what happens. Good luck.
Tried to gasket-match mine too. Ended up spending five nights working on the $#)* thing to accomplish it. They were all off a good 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch. Top and sides. Then I had to run block seal to get the water jackets closed up. The block & heads hadn't been cut (very light cleanup, not enough to thow it off). I've been happy with everything else I've ever ordered from them, but that intake didn't impress me at all. Not many options with the low hoodlines of the Regals though.
Doubt that Poston would take it back after I've been grinding on it. That's what I should have done in the first place but it was already three or four years old then. Dave Berryou:
