Has anyone used the roller rocker arms from T/A on a 300 build ? I am wondering if they fit under the stock valve covers.
$1600 ouch. I’ve never used them on a 300 but the 350 versions require taller rocker covers. http://www.taperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TA_1309
I paid 450 maybe, No part in the Summit mag has gone up that much no matter what car that is 400% Those bearings inside those rockers are 12$ a Piece from TA that's 32 of them folks My local bearing shop had them for 9$ I just did this job to mine, the bearings cost more than the whole assembly cost me. It is almost 30 years now, Time flys and I guess price does too.
No taller covers needed on a 350. I like the stock look for zero cost. Double gaskets work just fine. I'm running .584 valve lift, in. & exh., 1.6 ratio. Nothing touches.
What small dents in the valve covers.. Yeah I see 32 of them too lol I know this works as I have seen this on others too. Makes for the stealth stock look and if you have a GS model as Mart does I can see why you would want to do this.
Had I known this back in the mid 90’s when I bought my rollers I woulda stayed with my stock covers also. I do like the aluminum covers tho, more rigid no leaks, I think I’ve used the same valve cover gaskets like 30 times
My roller rockers cost me $995 just before Covid hit. Glad I pulled the trigger when I did because current prices would be a deal breaker.
I had Postons, didn't like them, so I went dbl gaskets. I've had them on/off 20 x's too. About time for a new dbl cemented pair soon, just because they're getting rock hard. Yep, costs get much worse, a built 350 with all the goodies will be abt 17k. Ouch!
Well the Chevy option wouldn’t have been much cheaper. TA didn’t have pushrod guide plates available and when my machinist looked into making his own he wasn’t a fan of the way the geometry looked. Too much side load on the push rod for one. After adding the time for him to make it work it wouldn’t have been cost effective either, never mind the reliability issues.
