there is some confusion as to the engine code but i think im running a stock 76 455 in my 67 gs. nothing internally has been altered. i have 67 exhaust maninfolds, 2.5 dual exhaust, dist recurved to 36 deg all in my 2200, and a 74 800 cfm q jet. i seem to be pretty close to the right cruising ration with 75 jets and 44 rods. but i imagine that with a stock combo such as this that 75 jets may be too big at wot. i know that the 400 carb had 71 jets and 37 rods to give approx the same cruising ratio. but i suspect that 71 jets may be too small. 73 and 41's maybe?? i guess i should start with stock for a 455, but what is stock? 75 and 47's was def too lean for this engine. thanks for any info. ill be going out to the track at atco for the first time this friday with this engine and would like to have a decent baseline to start with.

come on somebody most know what the stock rod and jet size was for a 455 with an 800 cfm carb. currently running 75's and 44's but maybe i should go to 71's and 37s or 73s and 41s?

    I use a 750 QJ on my stock 8.5 cr 455 with headers.Tried a few different jets/rods and 73`s with 44b rods seems to work.I beleive a `74 800 QJ uses 73 jets and Stage carb uses 75 if that helps.Later,Tony.

thanks for the help. i might try some 73's this weekend. i would just order the complete edelbrock kit but i hear that the older double taper 'b' rods are better. so im gonna wait til buick performance weekend at englishtown to try and see if i can locate some older rods. 41's for the 73's and 37's or 40;s for the 71's.
