I just got done taking apart my rockers today and the shafts were full of sludge seemed like it would block any oil from getting through... but the motor ran great. what would be the cause of this?

    Need more info.
    What year engine?
If its '70 and up, the rockers get oiled from the pushrods, NOT the shafts, so sludge in the shafts wouldn't have any effect on the running condition.
What that would indicate is lack of oil changes/maintenance:cool:
