I can't find Riviera cowl codes anywhere on the net. Can sometime tell me what paint 74A is? Also trim code 684? thanks Harvey
A year would help narrow it down, but paint code 74 is Burgundy poly, at least in 1974. "A" is a white vinyl roof and 684 is the interior trim code, and 684 in 1974 was a dark saddle interior. See: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/

Harvey, Marvin was my dad. He bought the 71 GSX so we could do something as father and son. He passed away in July of 2000. I'm doing the same with my 3 children today, trying to pass on the fun of owning musclecars!
1971 paint code 74 is, as Pat posted, Vintage Red. A is still a white vinyl roof, and 684 should still be saddle (dark brown) interior.
When my son was in his early teens he and I did not have the greatest relationship. Six months before he was old enough to drive, I bought his first car, a 1964 Skylark 2 dr HT with buckets and console. Working on that car brought us together and we have been close ever since.
