Right side rear view for a 1968?

Discussion in 'The Bench' started by Max Damage, Feb 25, 2024.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

I don't believe Buick made or offered one?

I wonder is there a high quality one available that looks right to match a manual drivers side mirror?

I am taking my car apart and since it's just a driver, this is an upgrade I would like...

Buick offered one as a dealer installed item. They are reproduced now but I can't vouch for their quality. I paid dearly for an NOS one years ago when the repros were not available.

Here is what mine looks like.

Yes, Frank used to make the repo ones. I believe The Parts place has them now.

Thanks for that info Tony! Been thinking of adding one to my GS400 (69).

If anyone has a photo of the back side of the Parts Place one, please post it up.

I don’t have a picture but it’s the reverse of the left side manual mirror. I does not look the same as the left side remote mirror that the majority of our cars had. I have seen one or two examples of a passenger remote mirror on a couple cars . I bet that was a minuscule % of total production.

Does the Parts Place repro come with the mounting gasket?
RIGHT SIDE CHROME MIRROR. THIS IS THE CORRECT CHROME ACCESSORY MIRROR. COMES COMPLETE WITH MIRROR, MOUNTING BRACKET AND HARDWARE GM # 981424

Is the gasket what they consider the "mounting bracket"? The gaskets were like hens teeth and some of the repros were questionable..

    It does include a gasket.

Has anyone used this item and is any good? Does the chrome last a while?

I have the original manual left side mirror, so I added a right side repo mirror a few years ago. It looks just like the left side mirror and the chrome quality is great. It also came with the black plastic mounting plate and hardware.

My left one is the remote mirror. If I can't find a matching one, I'm just going to deal with no mirror on the right.
