A week or so back i had posted i was having problems with my four speed in my 71' GS not going into reverse it seemed like it was binding well it was. The mounting plate that attaches to the transmission has three bolts. The original plate is offset if you add any washers at all to the top bolt the reverse detent will hit the bolt head. Pete at Precision Pontiac clued me into this little over-site he rebuilds all Hurst shifters and even has a book out called Vintage Hurst Shifters also he has reproduced the rubber grommets that go on the linkage part # 1234418 ~ $15 for a set of three.
