4 speed gurus, My reverse lights aren't working. Bulbs are fine. The 72 manual does not show any type of switch on the tranny to activate the lights when reverse is selected. It does show a switch or plu on the steering column, however. I can't figure out if there is a tranny mounted switch and , if not, how the system works. On an automatic col shift, it appears to make sense that a switch would reside on teh col, but a 4 speed manual?? Help. Any other thoughts? Thanks, Steve
I thought I sent this message to you before but the trans is connected to the collumn with the reverse lockout rod assy. It turns the collumn like an auto and the neutral switch is on the collumn. Check to see if its connected the wires for that are purple and purple witha white stripe. If its connected and your reverse lockourt rod is connected then it would be a bad wire or switch. This is on the clooumn and not the neutral switch thats on the pedal support.
...my reverse light switch is dead also. Does any one know if column shift switches are interchangable?
