Got a small tear to repair in convertible top. Was repaired with grey duct tape, black top. What is safest way to get off duct tape gook with out damaging top?

I've had great luck getting adhesive residue off with WD 40. Test on a small spot to make sure it won't discolor the top and then try it on the goo.

Will try that, was worried about staining the top. Have read some posts about using water less hand cleaner. Maybe the alcohol in it does the job. Thank you

Dont use Goo-Gone. I did when trying to get off tar splatter off the top, and it didnt discolor, but it flattened the texture in the material. :Dou:

Cant comment on how it might react with a convertible top but I use Eucalyptus Oil to soften/remove glue from price labels, which often use semi-permanent glue.

Rubbing alcohol. Put it on a rag or paper towel and let it sit on the sticky area for about 30 seconds, then gently rub the adhesive off. The alcohol will not hurt anything.
