    Hey guys,

I just wanted to say I had a great time hanging with you local G-body guys at Salem: Dan, Don & Sr., Joe, Dave, and Mark (former G-body guy!). Don, thanks for making your tent spot a hangout for the weekend... it was nice to have a place to relax at! :TU:

You guys are lots of fun, and thanks a million for making me feel welcome!! :TU:

See ya next year, or sooner! :)

Hey Glen, once a g-body guy always a g-body guy.

Yes, Don, thank you for the shade. You all made me feel very welcome. I'm not a good conversation starter so it's tough for me to hang out and make small talk. Thanks for taking me in. I wish I could have hung out longer with everybody but I had stuff to do at home.

Nice meeting both of you guys. Hope my ugly brown car didn't scare ya too much.

What scared me was when that ugly brown car made it in the 12's.

    Joe,

It was fun to watch you and Tim Perkins line up near the end of the night on Saturday! Two sleeper post 'Lark's with big blocks... that was cool! :TU:

Except that Tim is a full second faster than me. But I think I got the better sleeper package. Iron intakes and smogger carbs rule!!

That was fun lining up the two post cars. Joe, I'm sure Donny would help you out with that 'full second'. Just kiddin'. :beer

Cheapest way to get in the 11's.

Nitrous certainly makes for a good sleeper! Saw a rusty, dusty, primered '74 Ranchero spank numerous Hondas and Rustangs with a 351W with hypers, alum. intake, manifolds, and a bottle! :) Was a riot to watch! :TU:

BTW, Joe, what's the engine specs on your ugly brown motor, other than iron intake and Q-Jet?

    Nice pic!!

The motor is a 70 SF from a 35k Riviera (sorry the car didn't make it)
The reason the car had 35k (as I found out later) was that it had a cracked head.
It was bored .030 over because I had to. I used 10:1 forged pistons from TA that are notched (I had thoughts of a big cam someday). Block is decked .010 and I used .020 steel shim gaskets. The heads are 70's that I bought from the DeHabey brothers. They were resurfaced at .008. I figure compression is about 9.5:1. Used the stock rods and the crank was polished. The heads were opened up for Stage 1 valves. Oiling mods were made to the block and the cover is a 72. The cam is a TA 212. I also use a Stage 1 fuel pump, but I think I might want to go electric.

Total investment in the motor is $3000 including the purchase price of the 70 Riviera.

    More like 11's next year if I don't buy a T-type.

Will it still be brown and ugly? Long live sleepers!

Davey, was that you that I passed on my way out on 165 on the Sunday of Salem? I waved (or honked, I forget), but I couldn't tell if it was you or not. :Do No:
