I skimmed through the archives and could not find anything very helpful, as the links are old and not good anymore. Sooooo, who plates radio bezels, dash bezels, radio knobs, etc.? I looked at Mr. G's and they had some sort of list that did not include Skylarks. Maybe I missed something, but I saw nothing to indicate a service that I could send in my parts and have them redone unless it was on their list. Anyway, any suggestions?
i know jim at trishield performance was doing some of that . could give him a call or email. andy :TU:
JW had or has a trade in deal where you sent him a core and he sent you one he had in stock already chromed. Mr G's does do Buick pieces. I know George uses them. They also have a trade in program but I have never used it and do not know if the have Buick cores already plated.
I had Mr G's do my armrests for my 67 and I was pleased. They were only $23 each (not including any crackes to be fixed) and they had a very quick turn around.
JW a//k/a Trishield Performance. I have had many pieces done through JW including a full dash, opera lights, door backing plates radio bezels---just great quality. He does all the screening for you.
Prices I quoted are finished(chromed and painted) pieces, ready to install. I did not include shipping which is typically less than $20 for me, shipping from TX to FL, for all the pieces: cluster, steering column cover, radio bezel, 1 cluster ac vent, 2 dash vents, 2 sail panel lights (opera lights), 2 armrest base plates(16" versions). If you have a 71-2 car w/12" armrest base plates, you can buy those new from many aftermarket vendors.
Plastic Chrome Plating Jim, I don't think I understand o No: you said in a earlier post that JW switches cores around and now you are saying I should let him do my parts AL.
Mr.Gs does not return your parts. They use their cores. Personally, I have used them and the quality is less than I expected. Best folks are CV Vacuum Platers. Their work is show quality, and you get your parts back. Plastic chrome plating is not plating. It is a process called vacuum deposition. It is an aluminum powder coat with a clear finish. Great for interior stuff, but has poor weathering and abrasion resistance. BTW - the finished part is only as good as the core.....
You can do it either way. If you want instant gratification you will have to trade in and accept a core that was not yours.
Perfection Dash and Chrome , Anaheim Ca. Howard will use your core if good and can repair broken parts. Expensive but good job. Bad experience with Mr. G. Just my 2c. John
Glad to see that others have also had problems with Mr g's quality. I wish I would have known about howard before I sent them to Texas (Mr g's) it would have saved me a few hundred dollars. Howard has my dash now. Rick
At this time, due to inconsistancy with my current vendor, in both completion time and quality control, I am no longer offering this service. I am tired of waiting a long time for these parts, only to send half of them back, because they don't "pass muster.." Sorry guys, but I gave it a good try, educated my current vendor on how to properly do the parts over the last 2 years, but the last batch has been there 16 weeks, and the profit vs. hassel factor on this deal just does not wash.. I have a few pieces still out being done, and everyone will get a quality part from me, who I am working with currently. Hopefully this Howard guy in Cali can do this stuff for you.. and when done correctly, it is not cheap. Thanks JW
