Having more time to day dream than I have to work on my projects creates this question; can a two door post 65 Special have the roof removed and then made into a ragtop? Change the doors, windshield frame and the sheetmetal around the back seat and I have a convert for summer driving? I see rusted out ragtops on Ebay every once in awhile and it has me thinking about options.
Short answer? Ah, no...you can't just cut the roof off and hit the road. You just may hit "the" bump and the car might split in half. Drive on split pavement and the front windshield will blow out. The convertible had a beefier frame and cross-member set up that the post sedan never had. I'm sure guys have done it sucessfully, but it'll require a lot of work.
