Hi all! Been lurking here for a while and decided to ask my first question. I have a 67 gs400 and I would like to change out the rear end. I found a 12 bolt rear out of a 68 chevelle for a good price and would like to know if it will be a direct bolt in? Thanks, matt
1967 all BOP rear went wider by 1" so 68 will be the same width as the 67. 1964-1966 were the short rears and 1967 a-body chevy were narrow still . The yoke can be swapped for a BOP original factory one I have a wall full if you need...Then you will not need to swap the u-joint and the drive shaft length will also NOT need to be shortened or lengthened this is a VERY straight forward swap as long as you have the ORIGINAL 1967 8.2 rear under your car. Jim Good luck - wish I could get the 10 bolt 8.2 core from you... Jim J D
Thanks Jim! Deal fell through on the 68 rear, but i will keep looking. I will let you know if i need any parts. PM me if you want the 10 bolt when i pull it
You can get those parts for the 64-67 Buick 8.2. The problem rear is the 68-70 Buick 8.2. Check with Monzaz. I'm sure he can give you a great price.
Glad I found this thread.I have a 67 300cu skylark but a non posi and would like to change to posi.CAR has 27000mi according to documentation with car.So I would to keep original rear but convert over.IT will remain cruiser.IS the 8.2 strong enough and easy to convert.New to buicks and website but learning here. thanx to everyone. FRIDAY :Smarty:
That info is wrong Measure a true 67 rear I have about 5 on the racks right know. 67 is 55 1/4 flange to flange . BOP all switched to wider rears in 1967 Chevy was the only narrow rear in 67. Pontiac even had a commercial about it WIDE TRACK for better handling...LOL. yah right...??? 64 65 66 BOP are all narrow 54 1/4" flange to flange. Take care, Jim Mitschke - J D
According to the thread the 67 8.2 rear is a one year only?? How easy is st to change to posi?? FRIDAY o No: o No:
I believe the 64-67 Buick 8.2 rear uses the same parts. The parts are available. Contact Monzaz, for a good deal on the Posi carrier.
