I read it on a Nova site so could be fake. but my worked over chevy 8.2 seems to be holding fine with the mods I did and I added bracing to the pinion snout and axle tubes.
Supposed to be nice here tomorrow. I will try to get the car out of the garage and get some measurements and maybe some pictures for you.
You would most likely need a SPOOL to get the job done over and over. Spider gears just can not handle that shock of a 8.90 sec pass 1 sec 60 foot hit... Turbo car is even pushing it. I do not like you understand the amount of torque and power it takes to run a 8.90 pass in a full bodied car...
QUOTED 'I read it on a Nova site so could be fake. but my worked over chevy 8.2 seems to be holding fine with the mods I did and I added bracing to the pinion snout and axle tubes.' And what is it running in 60 foot and 1/4 mile times?
Here's some pics with a tape measure for reference. This is with a full tank of gas and spare tire in trunk. 71 Buick Skylark 8.5 rear end in a 66 Skylark w/455. Tire size is 235/60-15. One side has a little over 5/8" clearance, the other about 1". I think you could go to a 255/60-15 easily if you would roll the fender lip slightly to be sure. I haven't had any problems with rubbing. Hope this helps.
Apart from not being GM, what are the disadvantages of fitting a 9 inch Ford rear end? (ducks the empty cans and bottles!)
hOW MUCH ROOM BETWEEN THE INNER FENDER NEXT TO THE FRAME AND THE WHEEL sorry bout the caps... I just put more negative backspacing on the rim and it tucked the tire under the car more. Seems those buick rims are very shallow what is the width ofthem? 6 or 7" Jim
