I sell the Firestone Coil-Rite air bag kits for 66-72 GS/Skylark, for around $69 + shipping. Summit is $75.95 + $11 "handling fee".

I haven't had any supply problems with Firestone until this year. They have their own supplier issues right now.

    hey Dave,
Any new word on your ability to get a set from you/Firestone? I am looking to order a set and wanted to check with you first.

Hey Mike. Funny you should pull this thread out today. I installed the bags for him this afternoon. They did the trick.

Now in solving the rear problem, we now have an issue with the drivers side front wheel. This corner is sagging almost a half inch lower so in turn, when the wheel is turned in or out it is grabbing the wheel well trim at the very bottom in the front. We tweaked the fender a little bit and it clears it ever so slightly, I told him he needs to get a new set of front shocks at the very least.

After 42 years the front driver side spring is always going to be a little more worn out. So if he doesn't want to go for springs and the new shock doesn't solve the issue, he might have to go get those cheesy coil spring helpers. I hate those things but might do the trick for him.

    Hey, I love them things.
If used right they work great.
No different then any other coil over shock spring.

In his case though id probably use a shock stud extender on just that left front with new shocks, forget the springs.

I have only ever used them on the back but I install them unloaded.
    Forget the directions.
Meaning they don't even start to work till just after the stock ones do.
So the ride isn't rock hard, nor do they change the ride height, but give you a better spring rate when your on the way down.

[I put them on but don't bolt them down, put the shocks back on and lower the car back down, nothing holding it up. I then push them all the way up till they hit the body and then tighten up the bottom clamp. Top clamp is useless.]

Got em both on my wagon n 3rd gen.
3rd gen also has the stud extenders on the back to lift the rear a bit but now that my heavy glass hatch is gone I need to yank em.

New front coil springs are about 75 bucks and 1000 times better than skimping. I bought all 4 new springs for my 73 GS and now I run 235/70/15's in front and 295/50/15 on back with no air bags, spacers or air shocks...

But who can just change springs??? It takes some massive will power.

Once you got the front end apart like that you rebuild/replace the rest of it. As its already apart, you must take advantage.

Though I was just trying to offer help on a quick fix.

Myself I can't stop at one part. Why I haven't changed my lower A-arm yet.
Have welded in 2 new shocks so far. [ shock bolts ripped out, gone MIA, bye bye] But there is no way I can just change that without redoing the whole front end.

Why when I did the intake I didn't do a cam, no way I could tear the whole front of the motor off and just stop there. Would be only a few bolts away from the whole engine being out.

Im that type, go to change a simple gasket and the next things ya know the whole engine is in pieces. So I have adapted to many quick fixes that work to save myself/wallet, from myself.

Mike, interesting that you ask. My customer's order from last Sept just got delivered to him a couple days ago. I also have a couple sets on order for my stock, but they have not shown up yet. So it seems they are available again. What car/year are you interested in? If 68-72 A-body, I may have a couple sets soon. I do not know if a direct ship order will leave Firestone in a timely manner though. Yet. If I ship from here, the shipping will be about 5 bucks higher than shipping direct to you from Firestone.

UPS shows 2 kits are due in here tomorrow. Since these 2 kits have additional UPS costs to Fargo, I would need $75 + UPS from here to you. If interested, drop me a PM and we'll work out details. Or I can place an order to ship direct to you from Firestone, saving around $6 or so. However, I do not know how long it might take them to ship out NEW orders, they may not be caught up on their backlog of orders.

Did this problem come up after the install of the air bags? If so how much air is in the bags? I have a similier problem when at the track and I air up the right rear air bag to preload the right rear. This inturns puts cross weight in the car and the left front of the car is lower. Just a thought. JKaz

I only put 14 to 15 lbs in there. The front springs are just tired. The car is very original. I think only 1 repaint. It is up in the air too, but thats how his car was. So the bags stiffened up the rear and that puts all the weight on the front end.

Mike, 2 kits arrived here today, but one is on it's way to TX already, so I have just 1 kit in stock. Price from Fargo is $75 + UPS for this one. Let me know if interested, and we can PM the details.
