I got some rear seals for my 8.2 today. I work at napa and looked the specs up. The 712146 seal crossed to Napa is a 16735.

The Napa seal book says it is .470 wide. My surprise it is .496 wide when I measure it. Not sure if all of them from SKF are like that.

    Just passing it along.

I have also found that the new axle seals that I have been getting in the last year or so are better. They are thicker and seam to have a better lip design around the shaft as well.

That would be nice. I had a hell of a time with those new seals wrecking my axle bearings because they are too thin to set proper preload. I undid up paying big bucks for new old stock non taper axle bearings.
