    What is the correct color/finish for the bolts and nuts that hold the triangular shaped bumper bracket on the rear axle? '71 GS.

    Len,
    There are no bolts for that item. The triangular bumpstops go in a brkt that is welded to the housing. If you have some bolts and nuts adding another brkt, those are from wagon.

    George;

    The manual shows the bracket with bolts/nuts for the wagons and GS? Section 40-9, Figure 40-4, View of Circle "E".

    Very interesting Len! I never have seen those on GS455 cars.
    I have 3 of them now and none of them have it!
    Maybe it is one of those situations where it shows them in the manual but they never made it to production??????

    I have always found them on wagons though!

    As for bolt finish, I would assume they would be the same as other
    suspension hardware---black phosphate. Ask JW or Duane, they will know for sure!

    big Block GS's and wagons got the bracket, which moved the axle bumper out to clear the larger springs. Not sure on the bolt though..probably black but a nice new zinc coated bolt with steel locknut adds a nice contrast.

    I was thinking of using a grade 8, gold cad. plated bolt and nut.
