Is the cam etc. on a 1971 2bbl 350 the same as a 1971 4bbl 350? Looking at any problems I might run into switching from a 2bbl to a 4bbl on a stock 1971 Skylark 350. Also any leads on a stock manifold and carb setup would be appreciated, Been searching e-bay with no luck.
Yes, the 350 engine is the same - I did the 2bbl to 4bbl swap on my own '71 Skylark a year ago and it was easy to do and provided a nice increase in horsepower. You will need the 4bbl intake, 4bbl carb (I used an original Quadrajet which I had rebuilt), and 4bbl fuel pump to carb line. Depending on what the 4bbl intake has on it that you eventually find, you may need to get a 350 4bbl divorce choke assembly, dashpot bracket (or '71 idle solenoid bracket if you can find one), temperature sending unit, etc...
Did you see this auction on ebay? Check it out now! Even though it is from a 1972 and probably has the air set up - it looks like a good deal as you get the 4bbl intake, carb, all accessories, and even a ram air cleaner bracket! (that piece alone could go for half the buy it now price!). The seller says he pulled it from a 72 GS. You should jump on this soon as with a $100 buy it now I'll bet this sells quickly. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970...m14QQhashZitem130258924225QQitemZ130258924225
check again on ebay there is a 71 350 intake with quadrapuke for sale. I think the buy it now was $100 then add shipping. Somewhere in NY. I just came over from ebay and I just looked at it. LoL posted at the same time
If you guys see the links on e-bay for what I need please forward the info. Obviously I must be missing something or doing the search in the wrong way!

Regarding the 1972 4bbl manifold and carb setup on e-bay. it was mentioned there might be a difference between the 72 setup and 71 which is what I have. I guess what I'm asking is will the setup work or will getting it to work be a nightmare? I know I'll have to rebuild the carb and change linkages and such but don't know if there are any other major differences between the two years I need to be concerned with.
I believe that this intake should work fine on your car - do another post on the board to ask about the air pump on a 1972 intake to make sure.
Not exaclty sure what I'm asking? What do you mean when you refer to the air pump set up. I'm assuming the 71 manifold doesn't have a hose port on it and the 72 does? Is that what you mean??
>>Read this post and it should answer your questions about the 1972 intake air pump: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=59978&highlight=1972+intake+air+pump
that 72 setup will work fine on your 71. I dont see any AIR rails or anything else you will have to adress. Should be a direct swap-in for you.
Hey guys, Bought the 72 Skylark 4bbl and manifold everyone saw on e-bay. Now I need to get everything from a new air cleaner to all the necessary linkage etc. Any advice or part leads would be deeply appreciated!
You can probably use your same 2bbl throttle cable for your new 4bbl set up as I was able to use mine with no problems. For the ram air cleaner put in a post here in the parts wanted section. You could check ebay too as some pop up there from time to time (though I didn't see any right now when I just looked). It looks like that 4bbl set up you have is pretty complete - you should wait until it arrives and then decide what you will need.
Forgot to mention the 4bbl fuel pump to carb line - you can get one from a couple different vendors. I got mine from inline tube - www.inlinetube.com
Just got the carb and manifold that was listed on e-bay. Packaging left alot to be desired and the carb which was not mounted on the manifold took a beating. However, it looks like it can still be rebuilt. Does anyone know of a reliable carb rebuilder in the Orlando, Fl area. Found only one so far but don't know if it's good or bad. They want it sent to them via parcel post at my cost then they will send it back rebuilt for $240.00. They warrant it for a year and it's totally rebuilt according to them. Any info would be appreciated. Also want to have the manifold cleaned/boiled out and epoky finished if possible.
Go to "Vendor Section" & have a look at Jim Weise's post on carb. rebuilds & replating. I believe the carb. pictured is the one he just completed for me. Now I have a brand new 455 & a brand new carb. with no car to put it on! I currently have one of Jim's rebuilds on my 350. It's been there +/- 4 years. Still looks as new & haven't had to touch it.
