. . . very nice clean looking ALL original '68 GS?, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe, hope it's documented !
Owning a very similar car, I noticed a few varaitions and discrepancies in the evilBay listing. :Do No:

    - It has a pushed in '69 rear bumper, as the back up lights are in the tail lights, as well as an 'R' logo '69 fuel filler door.
    - The trunk emblems (lower right corner) are '66 or '67 script style, not '68 block letters.
    - The "R" emblems on the sail panels are found on vinyl roof cars only.
    - The centre caps on the driver side ralley wheels are not the correct ribbed cone shaped ones as seen on the passenger side views?
    - The GS model had absolutely no emblems on or near the glove box door - even though literature said it did, ( . . . with the exception of the '66 GS). The red '65 Gran Sport emblem is an "add on", and should not be there.
    - That engine is a 455 transplant, and definetly not a 430 - it also has an incorrect breather cover, it should be chrome on a true GS.
    - It also looks like the water pump, the radiator, or the overflow tube is leaking.
    - The rear sail panel interior lamp covers are missing, looks like some water damage on the sail panel?
    - The plastic insert in the centre cap picture is misaligned, and may not be original?

Buyer Beware . . . if your contemplating bidding on this "jewal" ! :Dou:

Definetly not original, and quite possibly some other discrepancies ? ? ? :TU:

The old 3hr rebuild on the motor. I agree looks like it has been messed with.

Appears to be a '72 or '73 engine.

Is it a 430 , I can't tell. But it does have the air pump feed rails cast into the intake manifold and it looks like the the air pump inlet is blocked off. I thought air pumps were on later motors :Do No:

    Same thoughts here . . .

Pretty sure that intake is newer than '68.

Somebody should just ask the guy for some casting codes . . .

GS fender emlems don't align right. Aircleaner is non GS but it does have the big pulley a/c compressor that a 3.23/ 3.42 equipped car would have. Definitely 455 rocker covers. '65 Gran Sport dash emblem is non correct. Intake is a '72 up style and oil dipstick is 72 up. Must be a 455. Hack job on pass. 1/4 panel. Doesn't contour with bumper and lower body line ahead of wheelhouse is awkward looking. A/c box has the automatic climate control setup.

Whew! And I just thought "survivor" had taken on a new meaning

a/c -no belt, dude where's my heat tube, pcv on driver's side? with no hose?
It does have nice horns. is that why the air cleaner has to be turned to face the pass side? :eek2:

And the list grows.....Z2 paint code indicates it originally came with a black vinyl top.

I sent the guy this message. waiting for reply
"You should get your facts straight on this car before you try to get that much money out of it. Someone is gonna be really pissed if they buy it and find out what a hack job it really is. First and most important... its a 69 car and NOT a real GS for sure. second thats a 455 transplant in there, early 70's from the look of it. I could go on and on but Im sure you already know. have a great day!"

Oh also did any of you notice the big wet spot under the front of the car and that the hide away headlight dont work?:eek2:

. . . nothing like the old 'wet spot' Steve !  :Do No:

As stated - It is definetly a '68 (ignition key in the dash) with transplants, like a '69 rear bumper, a ??? 455, and quite possibly a few other discrepancies. :TU:

Scammer, . . . call the Riviera GS police ! :bglasses:

OK - when is enough too much ? :Do No:
Just couldn't resist any longer, so this morning I contacted the seller via evilBay with the following message:

"There appears to be a few discrepancies in the description of this rare "original" survivor, and the photos you have posted.
Respectfully suggest you revise your description to truly reflect the automobile pictured in your listing !"

. . . will post the reply, if there is any.

    . . . the continuing saga:

The seller has replied " suc has what??? " :Do No:

. . . my reply to the seller:

"Well for starters - the rear bumper is '69 Riviera, NOT original. The engine appears to be a late model 455, NOT original.
The firewall body plate indicates a Black vinyl roof, all I see is the vinyl roof emblems with no other trim, NOT original.
I could carry on, but I'm sure your inteligent enough to understand what I'm saying - just provide an honest description to justify your asking price for the car.
Sellers that misrepresent what they are selling give eBay a bad reputation ! "

    . . . we'll keep y'all posted. :TU:

From the key fob, it looks like it's a "dealer" car. Good luck getting a revised listing on this "creampuff." It is a decent looking car, but I don't think anyone but his schill is going to bid high enough to meet reserve. Heck, for 17K, you'd think he'd at least get the A/C working for the next owner....HAHAHAHA!!!Dan

"Just spent over $800 on all new belts, hoses" "All the mechanical and electrical components are in fine working order"
Must be one of those transparent a/c belts...

Judging by his 100% + evilBay feedback, he has sold some other high priced vehicles.
Just proves that sometimes, ignorance is bliss. :Do No:
