...I've been thinking of trying this int he Wagon for the past year and now that the overheat is resolved I've got the chance!

Seems like a good product, but they rarely live up to the sales pitch - anyone got first-hand experience with `em?

Was thinking of a 14X4 kit using a 2" drop base....

There is a guy here on the board that is supposed to have a new style ram-air setup for sale. I'm sure he'll post here.

    Hi Clint,

I have had the Ram Air Box setup for the last four or five years. It works well.My car has the round headlights of course.I used the ram air box trumpets in the inner locations, used Bosch combined high/low beams in the outers.I also put the battery in the trunk to get room for the hose on the passenger side.I have the 4 inch ,110 degree box with a 1.5 " drop base.Since I use a Performer intake it works OK.Unless you have the motor sitting pretty low it will be a real chore for you to use a 4 inch box with a single plane manifold without a bubble in the hood.I never checked if a 2" drop base will fit on a Holley (or any other carb for that matter).
Functionally the setup works alright. If you are using a Qjet the airflow will "blow" fuel right out of the carb.I cured it by cutting a couple of holes in the back of the box.I have had a Holley 950 for the last few years and it works fine with the box totally sealed up.
I think there is some ET reduction. My car with 3.08 gears went 12.2 at 112.5 on a day when other racers were off their usual times by .4 seconds or more.Weather was horrendous the only time the car was at the strip.
I have a couple of the other style of air inlets(below bumper or in grille) which you can have cheap if you are interested(and if I can find them!)I wonder if the post office gorillas will jump on them like the SP1 I sold you a bunch of years ago.!
    Take care,
    Rod

As long as you will forgive the brand X engine this cowl set-up seemed to work the best for me. I tried the ram and the cowl hood but this seemed to work as good as anything else and kept the stock look.

    Thanks for the tips guys!

I'll give the box a try Rod, will le tyou know if i can use those other fittings. LOL given our luck with Canada Post last time I'd have to ship those parts in 4 tons of bubble wrap!

The cowl setup likely will not work with the Wagon, my hood is a real pain to fit up against...

I would like to do one like lilbowtie. That is how nascar does air boxes. My question is what are some good techiniques for figuring out the clearances to the hood?

I use modeling clay on top of the air cleaner to determine hood clearence,
