Hey Guys/Gals, Can any one tell me wher I can get a GOOD price on a Radiator for my 65 WIldcat, The one I got kinda wore out Or a Place to have one recored? Don
You can likely buy a replacement, but if you want to keep the car original (the embossed "HARRISON" logo on the tanks) you should have yours recored. Around here about $250. I suggest not having the radiator shop paint when done. The big shop tanks that they submerge your radiator in are typically full of grunge, trans fluid, oil grime etc. Take it home , clean it up nice and do it yourself. Steve
Don: I just had mine done here in Houston. It cost 266.00. I turned out great. They used my old tanks and recored with a 4 row. They even put the elbow on for the A/C. I knew how to position the elbow thanks to your pictures. Thanks! I wish I would have known yours was bad. Mine was not leaking at all. But I am installing the A/C and need the 4 row. I thought about seeing if someone wanted to trade my decent two row for a leaky one that needed recoring, since I basically removed a good two row core. Surely there is a good shop around you that could do it. I had to go to several shops before I found one who could/would do it. Several talked about difficulty getting the passenger side to accept the 4 row. They talked about stretching it. YIKES! No thanks. I would try to go with a 4 row. Let me know if I can help. I owe ya buddy! Rick

Rick, I have spoken to a few shops around here and they a little "IF-E" about doing it. I don't know why but they are o No: . Steve, Thanks for the tip! :TU: 65455Lark, Thanks for the link but hey don't carry the one I need! they say they do but they don't on my Cat it has the top linlet on the passenger side and the bottom on the driver side! Thanks again :TU: Don
Hey Don, I can get a price from the local shop-they do a 3-core that rules cools and never drools, its got a better fin count and 3/8th center-center distance for the tubes (original had 1/2" c-c). I can supply the core for free if its OK-they just use the tanks. Let me know! Ted :beer
Rad Pics here is a 65 Wildcat Radiator-you can see the offset of the fan here- Trannie lines to the driver side, tank on that side is wider than the other side. Only difference between a/c and non a/c is the curved top outlet to miss the a/c compressor.
Ted, Do you have a spare radiator tank with an outlet that clears the a/c compressor and a fan shroud? I just had mine recored, I wasn't aware of that! I'm trying to figure how to install the cruise control in my 65, the wiring is quite different from the 67 wiring I have and I'll have to modify it. I'll let you know if it works!
And it works... Thanks Ted! Now I need a cruise relay because I took the one in the Riv to install in the Wildcat...
What does that Cruise Relay look like? I was going to send you the whole wiring harness so the cruise and a/c plug ins would all be there for you. Would you still lke it? Ted
Of course I'd take it, here is a picture of the relay! I installed it with a 67 harness but the colors are different and the wires that goes to the power unit aren't the same as they don't pass in the firewall connector behind the fuse box. Let me know how much it costs and if you have a spare radiator tank for cars with a/c for sale, I'd take it too. Also, I noticed that my car doesn't have a fuel return line like those with a/c have, do you know if it connects to the fuel gauge or the tank itself? Thanks
I have to check that return line-Service manual shows the LeSabre assbly with the return to the sender. That relay looks different from the sockets on the '65-
The transistor amplifier is mounted in an aluminium heat sink and the relay is just beside, on the plastic box mounted above the glove box. It has the same kind of socket as in old tube radios with a plastic pin in the center.
Don, here are a few pics of the cooler lines. I don't know if they are original and they may have been installed differently from the original ones... At least, it works like that!
All Right! Phil , Thanks a lot!!!! :TU: That helps a lot! I am missing the hold down straps on the frame but I am sure that I can make them! Thanks for the help!!! :beer Ted, I got you PM and sent you one back! :TU: Don
Hi-I'm a little late on this one, but I've added a boneyard '65-6 3 row from an A/C equipted B Body a couple times to a non A/C equipted 2 row car. Also, shroud and clutch fan-you then need to use the A/C upper rad hose. Adds a little insurance/capacity-
