I'm having a bit o' trouble uploading the pix to the site. If you're intested in seeing them, send me an email offline and I'll forward to you. Thanks.
I think I can post the pix for you Mark. FYI, this intake is for the Rover V8\Buick 215, comes from New Zealand and is cast by a gent named John Harcourt in Christchurch. I've got his phone number around if you want it. He can also make up a set of spacer plates. (He has for me!) This guy is the Jim Burek of the Southern Hemisphere! Greg
There is also another single plane intake available from Australia from a company called Wilpower. It's pictured below with a set of spacer plates (for another project). These plates with a 215 style intake might work for you.... but.... 215 intake ports are smaller than the ones on a 300. Sean has a Huffaker intake which, strangely enough, I'm told nearly exactly matches the ports of the 1964 aluminum Buick 300 head. Porting out a 215 style intake to match the 64 alloy head can be done. However, I don't know if the 215 size intake runner on ANY current aftermarket intake can be ported out to the size of the cast iron 65-67 style (which is larger). There WILL be a port mismatch.
I took a 65 300\340 intake gasket and traced it over the 215 size intake runners. You can see how much smaller the 215 ports are. Greg
port size how small/large are the ports in the harcourt manifold? can you say weld the roofs and grind!!! i hand made the spacers on my engine, (and) the ports in the huffacker manifold were slightly larger than the 300 heads ports, they matched the 64 300 felpro intake gasket opening
Hey Sean, this is a pic of the 1964 intake gasket over the 215 sized ports on the Wilpower intake. As you can see, things get a lot better in the port matching department. No welding required. As for the Huffaker, a buddy of mine, Dan Jones, has a theory on why it's ports are the same as the 64 Buick 300. The Huffaker intake was developed for racing the Triumph TR8 with the Rover V8 engines in the early eighties. Dan suspects that they were using ported 64 Buick 300 heads instead of the Rover heads because the Buick heads had larger valves and ports. Greg
 that was my theory also MAN oh MAN i like that wilpower intake :Brow: but building a new house this coming spring so no fancy new engine parts for awhile:ball: just new rear tires and wheels and get the rear suspension set ip correctly hopefully next winter i can start on a new engineo No:
What would I have to pay to have one of those wilpower intakes shipped to the states? ________ Roll a joint
Price was about $260 delivered. That's for everything. Contact Chris Dale at p76v8@yahoo.com if you're interested. Greg
wilpower intake adaptors?? uzzled: I know this is a long while after the initial post.... will those adaper plates work with say the later rover fuelinjection setups to adapt to a 300? Jon
300 manifold To all in this discussion. It sounds like someone may have a huffaker 4v for sale. I do not want to interfere with any transaction that may be under negociation. If not I have intrest I have a 65 300 cast iron head v8. I look forward to hearing from you. Rick
This is a really interesting thread... I'm not sure Jon will ever read this since his post was a year and a half ago but the answer to the spacer question is likely yes...
In V8.org.uk was a link for u.s company Larocha or something (link lost, too many crashdowns). There was a sheetmetal FImanifold for Buick 300, for sale.
John Eales has 2 piece weber manifolds for IDA and DCOE. Doesn't matter how wide the block is as they aren't connected. Could be used on 215, 300, 340. Pricey though. http://www.beestore.co.uk/johneales/searchsite.html Click on new/used parts --> new parts and scroll away. Rick(wrench)
Also worth noting that the stock aluminum factory 4bbl intake for the 300 gave the most hood clearance of any available manifold for that engine. Pretty much essential for fitting it under an unmolested MGB hood. Jim
I had this one in my possession a few years ago and stupidly sold it when i decided to go back to big blocks.
