Has anyone ever thought about stroking a buick 350? I mean these things make mad torque because of there already large strock right? Why not increase it even more? Think about a stroked buick 350 with a super or even twin-turbo charger. How would you even get it to the ground!!!!! I understand to you would have to have custom rods maked to stroke it, but isn't that the weak link in the 350 anyways, and if your talking about supercharging it, as many are talking about now, then wouldn't you need forged rods anyways? Just a few thoughts. I was really woundering if it could be done, and not one of those if you had $200,000 dollar answers either. Just an idea I want to play with. Would it be worth it? would it increase or decrease the power to CI ratio? What are the ups and what are the downs? This is something I'm thinking about trying to do when I get to working on my engine, which will be in like a years time, working on the suspension right now.

PS: to all those complaining about having to get forged rods to make this work..... well that is the FIRST thing on my list no matter what I do to it, even if it is just a normal stock rebuild. I hate weak links :Brow:

anyways thanks for reading and great thanks to those who respond.

"By god you can do it to a 455 and you can do it to a V-6, then why can't the middle man get some!?!?"

    Offset grind the crank?

I like the idea! Could'nt you just offset grind the crank and then use TA forged aluminum rods and forged pistons? I don't know how much of a stroke increase this would net ... but it would be a strong lower end!

  3. I don't recall the details, but one of our engine builder members, Jim Burek maybe, stated that there just isn't room to stroke a Buick 350. I bet you could find the thread by doing a SEARCH of the small block forum.

That is correct, there is no room in the 350 for stroking. The rods barely clear the cam as it is, even after market steel rods can be a problem. I don't see any way possible to put an alum rod in one of those engines, alum rods are huge compared to a steel rod. Jim Burek
