  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy..   3. The "Group Buy" for the 1967-68 Deluxe Steering wheel recasting is now officially "Open". Now is the time to start sending in the wheels. The latest date that the wheels must be received by Kochs is 31 March 2025 The cost for each wheel is $750. The only "up front cost" is your shipping the wheel. If you send in more than one wheel, each additional wheel will cost $700. Shipping and insurance to Kochs and return shipping will be extra. Question for the non-Buick-ers......

    My cousin and I plan on installing a fresh 350 motor and 700R4 transmission into his 86 Monte Carlo SS. The car HAS a 305 with the same tranny. My question is how much time should I lay out for this project and how difficult would it be to do it? Also is it possible to do it in his driveway or will I need a lift and all the jazz? And what kind of tools will I need to make this easier.

    Anytime I ever changed a motor or tranny I was able to do it in my driveway..........once I did it with a chainfall hanging from the rafters...........next time I just rented a cherry picker (engine hoist) after hearing the rafters crackling :grin:

    Once you get the motor and tranny in there, then put the car up on stands to get under and connect the exhaust and tranny linkage and put the driveshaft back in.

    It's not that hard, but it's easier with one extra guy to help line things up while you lower the thing into the car. I think you can install them while they are both connected together if you are careful and if there's enough extra room. Good luck!:)
