On the muncie trans, there is a rod that connects to the steering column, am not sure what it does exactly (back up light or steering lock, key lock??...). But since the TKO as internals rods, what happens to the steering column position??? Do you have to turn it by hand each time you back up, start or get off the car????

you must be talking about 3 on the tree. a shift column. i do not believe
a tko will work, you need a floor shifter. you can order new gears from a business on the east coast. or go with a floor shift. jim

That is the shifter interlock on a 1969 and later car, most of them were removed at the first clutch service cause most can't get them adjusted correctly. Yes it is what makes the reverse lights work, but on the TKO there is a switch in the side of the transmission so you just run the wires to there and hook it to the switch. Keep all the interlock rods, brackets and pieces, there are a few people who are trying to find that stuff (remember most got yanked years ago), it fits most of the other A-bodies too.
