Yes, it's that time again where I ask you to use good penmanship and help with pronunciation when you write your tech cards, but this time I'm going to mention something else. Most of you are probably aware that I'm writing a book. It's almost done, but there are some hurdles to overcome. Your cooperation in Stanton will help me A LOT! The main issue I'm having is image rights - any item I publish that is owned by GM, Ford, or Chrysler has a cost. (Suffice it to say I won't be getting rich off this book...) So in order to pare down the costs I may accrue (GM's quote would shock you), I am replacing some original literature with photos. That's why I am going to Stanton early (Friday morning red-eye arrives in Detroit before 6am) so I can scope out cars and take pics. If you think there will be a moment to get your car out back for one or two photos, it would be much appreciated. For all I know, the return road after making a run may be good enough, but I can't say for sure. I also can't guarantee anything will make the book. :error: And then there's the weather to contend with . . . Of course, if your car makes the book, you'll get a signed copy of the book. :TU: If you're a spectator and you have a neat car that you'll be driving to the event, I'd love to hear about it too - I may make the same request.....thanks!
Thanks for everyone's patience while I took pics this weekend. But disaster has struck - I left the camera on the plane last night, and as of noon today, the crew hasn't turned it in. :ball: I have pics from the race AND a session with a kind Beaumont owner near Flint. I'm going to visit the airport again today and see if there's any update. I am still hopeful that someone is being lazy with turning it in, but if I can offer any lesson to anyone, ALWAYS upload pics to your computer ASAP - this would have saved me a lot of trouble because while a $700 camera can be replaced, the pictures for my book cannot. ou:
Oh, I'm not as hard luck as him. I hope he emerges stronger. Gonna head to the airport now and see if I can meet the same crew as last night. TSA is my only hurdle.....
No luck, and they would not let me address the cleaning crew or anything like that. Even the cops said it was useless because there could be no proof whether it was the crew or a passenger. I know they're right but I also know the channels they have in dealing with these circumstances do not benefit the customer - one time my mom left something on the plane and they would not allow her back in, saying it'll be saved at Lost & Found. Needless to say, it never made it that far.
Yeah . . . aside of a Beaumont shoot I planned on Sunday, it means a lot of your cars may not make the book, so there's disappointment to go around.
