Right before the traps my GS suddenly pulls like crazy.
    What's going on?

    It goes thru at 6300.

Sure wish it would pull like that at the top of each gear.

Is it speeding up because it's on the verge of running out of fuel.

Kinda like when a mower runs out of gas it speeds up right before it dies???

    Any ideas?

    Possible trans/converter problem?

I don't know Gary.....seems like fuel cuz the exhaust temp surges too. (1440)

The trans is like 5 yrs old...won it at the GS Nats (MAGS raffle)....the year it was real muddy....97? Only has a little over 1000 runs on it:) Converter is 2 yr old 4200 8 in ATI.

    6300

where are you shifting at in the earlier gears?

are you stretching it out to 6300 in the final gear?

    Hey Dan

I let it shift by istelf 1-2 at 5400 and shift 2-3 at 6000.

I was thinking that it is the very beginning of valve float. The beginning of valve float could see a bit more airflow causing it to surge? Just a wild guess......

    StrokedBuick Got Cubic Inch??

    is it ?

Is it really noticable cause you could also be over coming fuel pressure and running leaner towards the higher RPM. Leaner you run with out a miss more power you got...

    Just a stretch..

To me sounds like a lean condition. Rich makes power down low and gives up on high side. Lean will be soft on bottom and run strong on top. You are only seeing the gain at high rpm at the top of third because that is the only time you reach that rpm range. EGT's will be different for every combination, mine ran best at a max of 1475-1500. One area to look at would be air bleeds in the carb, a good carb shop could wet flow the carb to check distribution at different flow rates to see if there is a fuel curve change with air flow changes. Spend a few hundred dollars at any good carb shop and you will be amazed. I used Pro Systems out of Michigan and was very happy with power per dollar spent. BIGGS is on our board and would be more local to you. When you choose a carb shop make sure they can wet flow the carb.

    Thanks guys....

Last weekend I noticed the rpms up at 2000 after I let off after the run then slowly coming down which is what used to happen on another motor after I would float the valves. Pumped up?

Maybe I'll try reving it to 6300 in second and see if it does it....that could give me an indication as to whether it is fuel since more fuel would be needed in high gear.

    E-town this weekend.
