Does anyone have a power steering pump and brackets that will fit an 81 Buick 231 even-fire V6? The motor is in a Jeep CJ, and I have swapped it over from manual to power steering, and only need the pump and brackets to complete it.I have been told a Buick 350 PS setup would bolt right up, but have no idea what years will fit.I am sure someone in here will know.I found a setup from a 1980 rear wheel drive buick, with the V6, on ebay, for 25$, but have no idea if the 80 and 81 are the same.Any info is appreciated! Mike PS Sorry this is not a V8 question, But I dunno where else to turn! o No:
I don't "know" for sure, but most of the stuff interchanged with Buicks...I have a timing cover for a 3.8 (V6) to install on my 71J Wayne S
OK-Still looking for a pump and brackets if anyone has or knows where I may be able to buy them. Thanks o No:
p/s pump and bracket for 231 Buick V6 Are you still looking for a pump and bracket for your 231 V6. I will look and see what I have if you are. I have several 225, 231 and 252 V6 engines plus several 350 V8's. Your frame looks like Jared Prindle AFW made here in MT. I have alot of Jeep parts too.
Re: p/s pump and bracket for 231 Buick V6 It has been awhile since I have had the time to work on this, but I am finding more time now, and YES I desperately still need the brackets for the power steering pump. You are also right on the frame.I had Jared at Advanced Frame Works build this frame. After AFW sold, I had the same place, now called Throttle Down Kustoms, build the tranny crossmember for me.I took lots of pics of my old frame, since it had some mods, and had him build me a brand new one.Now I just need to finish this project, so how about that pump and brackets? haha Mike
you can use v6 stuff rear drive all the way to 87 v6 but most have air injection pump 80-87 ,but you could trim off extra brackets if you like you will have to adapt the metric fitting on the newer stuff but that is sometimes to relare end of hose wuth new fitting 350 stuff will work from 71 and up to 80
I am still looking.Found a partial set of brackets. but that doesn't cut it.Please send me your email and leave a number, I will gladly call you. Thanks a ton! Mike
Ok, ended up purchasing a set of brackets and a pump, but it didn't work out.Looks like it may have been a front wheel drive vehicle.I have no idea what I am actually looking for since it never had it to begin with, but someone must have a set of brackets from a buick 350, from the early eighties collecting dust....Anybody care to help a guy out and post pics of your power steering pump and brackets assembly for me to look at, so I may be able to figure out what I need? I am told the 350 and 231 are the same block, minus 2 cylinders.Geeze, if this was a chevy I could get them aftermarket, I cant find a thing for this! Part of the problem is the distributor is right in the front of the engine, and leaves little room for the bracket to mount.Someone please heeeeelp!
The pump bolted to the three bolt holes in the head. Not sure what setup you have on your Jeep, can you post up a few pictures maybe able to get your system figured out.
I have a '84 cutlass parts car, with a running 231 V-6 still in it. All of the factory P/S parts are there. This should work for you. PM me if interested. Bob.
Thanks a ton everyone for your help! I ended up finding one that bolted up perfectly.Couldn't be happier.Just gotta keep trying I guess. Now on to the next problem, whatever that may end up being, haha. Thanks again everyone! Mike
Hey Bob..ROCKET RACER....I am hoping you still have your 12 bolt rear???o No: ..please contact me! Wheelz, Tampa Bay PenWheelz@ij.net
Yeah Wheelz, I still have it. I spoke to a guy in NC that wants it, but we're trying to figure out delivery. I have a friend in Live Oak that gets down here on ocassion to haul boats up north, but the deal he had fell through, so we're still waiting. The guy in NC said that he may bite the bullet and take a road trip to pick it up. As yet, no dead presidents, so it's first :dollar: , first sold. Bob.
