Proper Length for heater hose?

I've got a '70GS455 with A/C. I'm replacing both heater hoses coming from the timing cover to the heater core and also and the one connected to the stock intake manifold with the heater control valve in that line.

I'd like to know the correct location for the vacuum controlled heater valve? I've seen it sitting on top of the upper A/C compressor bracket and also back under the A/C POA valve near the firewall. And, if the correct location is over the A/C compressor bracket, is there a correct length for the short hose from the manifold the the control valve? The one coming off my engine is about 6 3/4" long. Does this look like the correct routing?

I could also use the black insulator sleeve that goes around one of the hoses as they pass over the compressor and are held in place with a bendable metal band which I also need.

The factory lengths always seemed a little short to me. I think I ditched the factory lengths and cut mine so they fit the best

Quick Buick, pbr400 and Dano like this.

12lives Control the controllable, let the rest go

The valve to manifold needs to be long enough so the valve does not hit the air cleaner. Make sure you test fit the air cleaner before you wrap it up!
