Well, yesterday I decided to take advantage of some cool air in KC and went out to the track. New personal best out of my tank! 455 Olds w/Turbo 400 3.23 rear gear 4200# with driver 235/ 60 R 15 Eagle GT II 2.017 60' 5.572 330' 8.532 1/8 @ 83 mph 11.097 1000' 13.285 @ 102.49 Does anyone else want to see what I could do with a different gear?! I am crossing the stripe at 4300 RPM! :spank:
Holy cow! Good job, man! Sounds like it's time for some GEAR!!!! :TU: [BTW, were you the *816* that called yesterday afternoon? I was working (I'll spare everyone the details! ) so I couldn't chat, and my battery died shortly thereafter so I couldn't grab the number... :af: ]
Hey Rob, that was me! Just wanting to sound my own horn a little bit. I wish I had a little weather station with me. Air temp was in the mid to low 50's with a very overcast sky. The track was not gripping very well. I managed some 2.1 and 2.2 60's but it seemed that I had real loss of traction and had to pedal quite a few times. Quite a few runs were in the 13.60's with same mph. Laid waste to 3 Fox body Mod motor Mustangs and a '69 Chevelle with a truck head 454 and 4 speed (He ran 13.80 at 103.8). Good day to hot lap as not a ton of people were there. Kind of neat yesterday, 2 new Maurders were dukeing it out. They were supercharged and running in the mid to low 12's.
Hello Rusty, If you picked up 0.3 tenths with no other changes except good air then you definately need to lean it out to compensate for the typical conditions at the Pure Stock race in Sept. Send me a PM if you need some advice :Brow:
Jeff, My biggest problem at PSMCDR was my 60' times. '04 I was consistent with 2.0- low 2.1 60' times. I rotated the tires front to back and was only able to pull high 2.1/low 2.2 60's. Yesterday, I went from AY to AU rods with X hanger and got my times. I believe that I am running 71 main jets (its been too long since I have tore it down!) Would be willing to explore your Q-knowledge some more. I believe that my run from this year was greatly assisted by a tail wind. So should I get some gears or what! :moonu:
Great job, Rusty! Now that you've got a tow rig, 3.90s sure are tempting, aren't they? But just a word of warning: once you install them, you'll find yourself driving it less -- or at least sticking to the backroads instead of the expressway. Why not start with some repro bias-ply tires? With the 60' times FAST guys are getting out of these, they may solve your traction problems. And if you could pick up a tenth in the 60, you'll be knocking on the door of 12s ....... That's Casey territory!
Go For It your crazy not to,get some 411's or 430's and a factory cam and you could be runnin in the 13.70-13.80 range.
That's it! :spank: I am gunning for the gentlemen from Nebraska! You better have the 'Bundymobile' broke in (not broken) and ready for a tussle! :blast:
Very impressive  Rusty Supercars Unlimted has 3:42,s in stock :bglasses: Next stop the 12,s o No:
bowtie or mopar Rusty you may not have to run the bundymobile, ive bought a bowtie thats ready to run,ive still got the duster but have'nt torn the engine out yet and depending on funds who knows when that'll happen, but if it does'nt bring that FAST olds on.
