Proof of some type of rebuild?

    Pulled one valve cover off today. Wanting to clean them up as well as intake while carb is off. I see red over spray on some parts. From the factory that would not be the case I'd think. Heck I don't even know what color this motor should be.
    Pretty clean on the inside of cover, no gunk at all, top of head is pretty clean I think also.

    Maybe the heads were rebuilt

    I’m thinking some one repainted engine at one time. 70-72 engine if rocker arms are original

    What's up with those valve springs already being / showing compressing on there cylinder head side?

    The car is a 72 Buick w/350.

    The factory springs were that way, the closely wound coils go towards the head.
