Thanks guys!! Does anyone have any video of my car from last week? If so I would love to see it. Thanks
Congrat's Steve. Knowing a little bit about your fabrication talent,I was looking forward to the completion of your car,It meets and exceeds all I was expecting.Great Job! Avatar shot is awesome,Looks like a fun ride.
Thanks Gary, The way the car performed and all the positive comments make all the long hours and hard work worth it. With a few changes for next season I'm hoping to get a full summers worth of fun! I hope to make Norwalk, BPG and BG, as well as maybe a few others. Thanks again!! Steve
The pics dont even begin to show all the little details that we all knew Steve would make perfect. the car is a work of art.
Thanks Shawn! I didn't get to talk with you very much at the Nat's....too dern busy! Racing a car like this is fun, but it sure can take away from socializing! Later, Steve
I finally found a video of my car. It was at the Nat's against Jerry Chambers. I lost but it was a good race! I need more seat time to become somewhat consistent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXF6pa6XYl8&feature=player_detailpage Thanks,
Well it's been a while since I posted on my progress. After last falls initial week of thrashing I changed a few items that needed attention. One of them was the hood. I received a new hood from Craig in AZ. It took me a while to get it fit to the car and painted, but it's finally on and the car is ready to race once again. I was planning to go the BPG Nat's but I don't think I'll make it. Is anyone going to the Midwest Challenge in August? I may shoot for that before venturing to BG in fall. Anyway, here are a few pictures of the car with the new hood. Big thanks to Craig for getting me the hood and my apologies for not getting it finished sooner! The hood fit very well and is a nice piece!! Anyone thinking of purchasing one better do so soon; because I think this will be the next "standard hood" for our GS race and custom cars! Steve
Thanks for the compliments Steve I can't wait to see how the hood does at speed. While I've put over 50 passes on my hood, it was only at ~112 mph, your additional 30 mph will verify I have the lay up correct and we'll see how the rear cowl induction compares to your Pro Stock style scoop you were running.
Absolutly wicked:TU: can you give some more detail on the hood pins you used, and how they are set up?
Thanks guys!! Chuck, the hood pins are nothing more than dzus fasteners. I made the new hood fit to the old fasteners locations, just in case I want to switch back and forth between hoods. Steve
After a few times putting the new hood on, taking it off, etc, I've decided that (when time permits) I'm definitly going to build a set of light weight hinges so I can open the hood by myself. Four extra Dzus fasteners and the hood will still be removable. The old hood (with the scoop) was easy to lift off as I could just grab the scoop and lift. With the new one there is no good place to grab with any leverage. There are many times that I race alone, so having to round someone up to help with the hood will be a PAIN! It will be much easier to use a prop rod for simple under hood checks. Anyone else have this issue with lift off hoods? Steve
I agree I wish I had some lift weight hinges for mine. It is not that it is hard to get off (I have a Stage2 glass hood) but when I tech in it would be nice to just raise it rather than removing it.
Steve, All you need is a "Suction handle" like professional glazers use. http://www.crlaurence.com/crlapps/s...tory=39324:1220:1551:1552&ModelID=43947&pom=0
