I found a set of these Proform billet shaft mounted roller rockers and was wondering a few things:

    1. will these work on stock ported 71 455 heads?

    2. are they worth the upgrade?

    3. any issues or problems known about these?

    4. They are 1.65 ratio vs the stock 1.55 I’m assuming pushrods and possibly different springs, but can and will this work with a stock setup and a TA 212 cam?

    5. is this overkill for a mild build and not necessary?

    6. thinking since the heads are getting done in the shop and I was going to buy the TA stock shaft mounted rockers anyhow, maybe this would be a nice replacement. Am I wrong here?

Any and all input is always appreciated!

thank you guys for knowledge you share here,
    Eric

There was a thread on these a few years ago. I didn't heed the warning and purchased. The bolt holes didn't line up on TA heads or a set of 455 heads. I would have had to elongate 2 holes. The side to side (when looking from the exhaust manifold side) had the rockers ranging from centered to extreme right to slightly hanging to the left.

I suppose the spacers can be modified to get better fit along with bolt holes. What finished it was Proform was not interested in hearing about it.

    Wow!!!! That’s potent info here!
Thank you, I will search the topics again. I didn’t find anything in my search earlier and that is why I posted the question.
I really appreciate the fast response too!

I bought one of their timing covers and after it was ready to fire I discovered that the distributor hole was either the wrong size or the hole was oblong. I had to grind my distributor to make it fit. Lucky I was using an old stock distributor with a stinger pick up. Later I had to have the hole redrilled to make it work with the correct distributor size. Cheaper dont always mean it even works correctly

I'm sure there will be some that mistakenly waste their money on these rocker arms. Hopefully, no member here will make that mistake, but I think some will. I frequent several Buick bulletin boards, and I still see new classic Buick owners asking the most basic of questions, and getting no answers. I try to answer their questions, and steer them here, and I have been successful with most of them. There is enough collective information here on V8, so that with a little bit of research, you would think that no one would ever make a mistake. In a perfect world, customer feedback would encourage manufacturers to fix a faulty product, but we all know that they won't if they can make a profit selling to unsuspecting and naive people. Invariably, some will blame the Buick engine instead of the product, and then the Buick engine gets replaced with a Chevy or LS engine.

John (Post #2), looks like you contacted Proform, and they didn't want to hear about it? How long ago was that?

That was about 2 years ago now Larry. Guy was nice but there was no care if the product was usable.
