i took apart my 73 regal 350 4 bbl and cleaned the manifold and carb, but have no idea where most of the hoses go. could somebody please explain where they hook up from the carb to the manifold and whatnot?

It's really very simple. Alot of the small hoses on the 73 carb may be pollution device related. On the front of the carb is a 3/8" nipple. Use a long piece of 3/8" line to the PCV valve at the back of the manifold. There is a smaller hose coming out of the back of the carb that goes to the vacuum storage tank on the firewall. Then you need to use either ported vacuum (front drivers side), or full vacuum (passenger side front) to the vacuum advance unit on the distributor. The stock setup used ported vacuum. That's all you need. Unless you're building a concourse vehicle, leave the rest off, you don't need them.

This may be a long shot, but is your vacuum hose routing sticker still legible? If not this may help. Most of the emission controls, whether they use temp sensitive devices or not, will use ported or off idle controls. Controls for the choke will use manifold vacuum. These include manifold pre-heating, or EFE, temp controlled air cleaner, PCV, air pump etc. There is another possibility: if the hoses have taken a set, it might be easier to reconnect. I'll bet you disconnected them intending to replace them to prevent leaks right? I have some diagrams in old service manuals that may help. Is this a Calif vehicle?

yeah, i took them off and was gonna get new ones. i don't know if it is a california vechicle, but where it says the specs for timing and idle and all that stuff on top of where the radiator mounts to the frame right where the hood pops up, i remember reading something about california, but i'm not sure. i'll go look tomorrow and see what it says exactly. if i get this thing running, it'll be a miracle! it has been sitting for over 13 years getting rusty and slowly dying. on the other hand i'm only 17 and inexperienced when it comes to engines. thanks for all your help.
